MADMEN BOTH…..NUCLEAR APOCALYPSE

Two madmen facing off against each other. Not caring about their people. Caring about their images. Ready to blow up the world.

A nuclear apocalypse in the making.

God help us!

At first I thought it was Kim Jung Un playing his usual game. Not at all. Donald Trump has welcomed the challenge. The bravado that goes with it.

Instead of calm diplomacy, Trump adds fuel to the fire daily. Terms like…..Fired and ready…..Locked and loaded.

Face is especially important in the Far East. Jung Un is being backed into a corner.

Trump in the meantime is in all his glory. Watching him on television yesterday, he was on a high. On the biggest stage in the world. He has thrown the gauntlet down. Telling Jung Un in effect…..Don’t screw with me!

If nuclear war occurs, I can see Trump and Jung Un at the end. Each sitting on top of massive death and destruction in their respective countries. Each thinking as Jack Horner once said…..Oh, what a good boy am I!

My yesterday began pleasantly. As was the whole day. A haircut with Lori.

Then to Lisa’s to pick up Robert and Ally for an afternoon with Poppa.

I walked in. Everyone looked at me strangely. Robert and Ally had friends in. I saw Robert eating a sandwich. Why are you eating? We are going out for lunch?

Yes, we are going out for lunch. Not yesterday, however. Saturday. I screwed up. It happens at my age.

Last night the Chart Room. A unique time.

At some point the Chart Room was empty. Just David, John and Louis. For about 45 minutes. The silence overwhelming.

David and I sat at the round table. Enjoyed a terrific conversation. No background noises bothering us. Not enough booze imbibed to affect our thought processes.

It was great! David a thinker. Knowledgeable.

Then to Tavern ‘n Town for the 9-11 Happy Hour. Read the newspapers and enjoyed a light snack.

Jenna called me before I went out last night. We were to go out tonight together. She cancelled. She has a shoot in Fort Lauderdale and is leaving tonight.

She loves me no more!

We agreed we would get together next week.

Donna had telephoned before Jenna. Asked if I wanted to join my lesbian wives tonight. Said, no. Going to dinner with Jenna. Ten minutes later I was on the phone asking Donna if I could join she and Terri tonight.

My dates this evening, the wives! A fundraiser first at Bottle Cap. Then dinner somewhere.

Tom Luna. The best of the best. A good guy. A fixture at Aqua for years. He is leaving. Going to bartend at The Marker wednesday, thursday and fridays from 3-7. He will continue monday nights at Aqua for Dueling Bartenders.

Joanie. Painter Joanie. Bocce Joanie. Don’s Place Joanie.

I mentioned she was sick and at Kendall Hospital in Miami.

Joanie has been diagnosed. Stage 4 liver cancer.

Pray for her!

Key West has been reading William Hackley daily the past couple of years. Thanks to the Key West Citizen that is running excerpts from his diary.

I have suspected Hackley rented slaves. Not an owner. I also suspected Hackley was a good guy. No more.

He mentions in a diary entry this date in 1856 that he whipped Spring. Never heard of Spring before. Whipped him to make him obey.

Spring skipped away and ran home. When he returned, Hackley chained him and “whipped him well.”

Spring has to be either a slave or a dog. Whipping in neither instance acceptable. Hackley no longer held in the high esteem by me.

Finally, David Wolkowsky recognition. On this day in 1968, David opened the Pier House Motel. Today the site of the Pier House Resort. Big trees from little acorns grow.

David juvinated that end of Duval. He rejuvenated other areas of Key West. The Key West we know would not have been without him.

Enjoy your day!

ANOTHER WOODSTOCK?

Several day long festivals, weekend festivals, music festivals, etc. Key West has them all!

Are we reaching the point of too many? Especially as to quality?

The amphitheater opens in February. A 4 day music fest scheduled. Mile Zero Fest. Within a week, another music festival. At Fort Zachary Taylor State Park. Mile O Fest Key West. A 3 day event.

Who is scheduling these “fests?” Does the City have professional assistance. I doubt it.

My fear is that at least one of the events is going to get out of hand. The one at Fort Zachary Taylor. Sounds like a Woodstock in the making. Mud, drugs, nudity, etc.

Dr. Mc Ivor’s office yesterday. My heart doctor. The best.

I had  been there 9 days earlier. Had water problems. Gained 17 pounds in two weeks. Blood pressure on the top side 187. Ankles swollen. Totally exhausted.

Put me on water pills. Every day till further notice.

I returned yesterday after 9 days on water pills. Weight down 12 pounds. Blood pressure 112/72. Energized.

Amazing!

Wish I knew what caused the water increase. I worry about these things.

Took a slew of blood work. Didn’t think I would have enough blood left to make it home.

Chart Room last night. Tom and Fran Dixon in from Buffalo. As usual, we had a wonderful time! Good people. Fran brought me four containers of sauce and meat. Plus a candy involving small pretzels, chocolate and and M&Ms on top..

Tom and Fran were tired. Returned to Ocean Key House and bed. I was hungry. Decided to stop at Tavern ‘n Town on the way home for the 9-11 Happy Hour.

The frozen sauce in a plastic bag on the front seat with me. Fell over as I made a turn. Top came off one container. Sauce still hard frozen. I could not get the cover back on.

Decided not to take a chance. Went straight home.

My front seat smells of red sauce. Will have to wash it down this morning.

I had nothing that turned me on in  the refrigerator. Took the topless container and poured the frozen rock hard contents into a microwavable bowl. Twenty minutes later, I had chunks of pork floating in a rich sauce.

My late night dinner.

Big afternoon.

Haircut with Lori at noon. Pick up Robert and Ally at 12:30. Lunch and then the new Key West Escape Room at 2:30. Hope the Room is fun. Expensive. $35 for me, $25 each for Robert and Ally.

Enjoy your day!

DICK MACPHERSON

One of Syracuse’s greatest football coaches has passed on. Dick MacPherson died yesterday. He was 86.

Syracuse’s glory days were long gone when MacPherson arrived at Syracuse in 1981. His charge was to return Syracuse to those days. He did.

MacPherson coached at Syracuse ten years. From 1981 to 1990. Two events stick out in my mind. The 1987 team that went undefeated. The other, the 1984 defeat of #1 Nebraska 17-9.

The Nebraska game sticks out in my mind. I doubt I missed being at the Carrier Dome for a football game in the years I had a private box. Except for Nebraska in 1984. A relative was being married in Utica. During the ceremony, I was sitting in the rear of Mount Carmel Church with a small radio pressed to my ear.

My blood ran orange. Still does.

MacPherson was a warm personality. A kind word for everyone. A family man. His daughter Maureen went to Syracuse Law School with my son John. She was a visitor to the box. MacPherson himself would visit during the basketball season.

Jim Boeheim said yesterday: “He was one of those rare guys that everyone loved.” Could not have been said better.

The undefeated 1987 season was recognized. MacPherson was named Coach of the Year.

Following Syracuse, he moved to professional football. Coached the New England Patriots for two years. Then returned home to Syracuse to broadcast Syracuse football games.

MacPherson will be laid out on campus at Hendricks Chapel. Final services will be held at Hendricks Chapel.

The last few weeks found COMMENTS becoming fewer and fewer. I could not understand. Were readers leaving me?

One of you found a way to get a comment in. By representing himself as Key west Lou. I suspect Patrick. The same person mentioned two days in a row that comments were being barred for some reason.

I had Sloan check it out yesterday. Sloan’s efficiency responsible. She turned off COMMENTS. Never told me.

Sloan thought too much spam and trash were finding their way into COMMENTS. She set things up so comments were held till such time as approved.

Sloan never approved anything. Nor did I. I was not even aware.

The situation has been corrected. Comment away! I too enjoy reading them.

I CAME TO MATE…..NOT EAT

Key West has had a few crocodile visits this past year. An alligator or two in the lower Keys.

This is the story of George. An 8 foot alligator that ended up on the doorstep of a home in Breaux, Louisiana sunday afternoon.

George refused to move.

Wildlife authorities said he was looking to mate. This is mating season. The alligator had traveled some distance to Breaux and the house.

George was removed. Returned to his natural habitat some miles away. Hopefully, he will find a mate and the two will achieve sexual satisfaction.

Divers galore in the Keys. It is lobster season. Diving for lobsters fun! I can attest to it, though I have not done so in years.

A husband and wife team were diving under Card Sound Bridge. The northern Keys. Card Sound Bridge connects mainland Florida with the Keys.

They did not find lobsters. Instead, a skeleton. A head and bones.

Police are investigating.

The more I read William Hackley, the more it is obvious that he utilized slaves to run his home. Does not seem to have owned any. Rented them.

A note in this date’s journal in 1856 indicates Hackley paid a Dennis $50 “in full for negro hire” and a few cords of wood.

Modern education scares me. Bush 2’s No Child Left Behind a disaster.

Perhaps another in the making.

Marion County, Florida’s Superintendent of Schools has banned homework for all elementary school children. Thirty one schools involved. She believes being relieved of the pressure of homework will lead to happier, better performing students.

Does not impress me! Time will tell if the Superintendent is correct. The problem if she is wrong is that the children relieved of homework will have lost something that cannot be recaptured.

John Keats, an English romantic poet. Compared talent wise to Shakespeare. Unfortunately, Keats died at the age of 25 in Rome from tuberculosis.

I write about Keats today because of a note I came across stating that this day in 1818, Keats returned from a long walking tour of the Lake District and Scotland. The trip was the first time symptoms of tuberculosis became evident.

Keats died three years later.

Thirty years ago, I was in Rome for a month long vacation with the wife, our four children and my parents. One day we had gone our separate ways. Everyone had something they wanted to do.

I had nothing. I walked. Ended up at the Spanish Steps. A good place to sit, rest, and contemplate the world going by.

If one stands facing the steps, to the right is a 3 or 4 story building. The brass plaque said John Keats. From my college English literature classes. I walked in. Top floor was where he lived, worked, and died.

Sort of a solemn place. One room contained some of his writings under glass. Handwritten notes, etc. One a line from a poem written by him. The line known to most of us…..A thing of beauty is a joy forever.

The line and its handwritten form on tan paper touched me. Brought tears to my eyes.

Scaramucci, poor Scaramucci. I thought him an ass. However, everything hit him the same day.

He was fired as Director of Communications. A Harvard Law graduate, he received that same day Harvard Law’s new directory of graduates. Scaramucci was listed as dead. Harvard apologized and said it would correct the mistake in its next edition. The only problem is the next edition is not due out for 5 years.

Sometimes you can’t win for losing!

Thomas Edison received a patent this day in 1876 for the mimeograph. I started practicing law in 1960. Copies were made via the mimeograph. A horrid machine. Makes me suspect it probably had not been updated since 1876.

You had to hand churn the copies. And the ink! So much! Most on your hands by the end of a copy job.

My podcast tonight. Tuesday Talk with Key West Lou. Interesting topics. Like the Scaramucci story here, Hiroshima, the hurricane season, private prisons squeezing governments, teenage suicides, a policed officer saving a suicidal woman from being run over by a train, and a comment re lies and Trump.

Join me. Nine my time. Fast moving. An interesting half hour. www.blogtalkradio.com/key-west-lou.

Enjoy your day!

STRANGE THE WORKINGS OF THE LORD

A California Catholic high school recently scored big time in a new stock offering. To the tune of $34 million.

The school St. Francis High School. Mountain View, California. Part of the Silicon valley. One of the wealthiest locations in the United states.

St. Francis already had an endowment of $25 million. Tuition is $17,980.

Several years ago, it was suggested that the school make an investment of $15,000 in the start up company Snap. Snap went public as Snapchat. Day one St. Frasncis’ investment was worth $34 million.

God is good!

A little preferential treatment in this instance?

I have enjoyed Key West for more than a quarter of a century. It is amazing how much I still do not know about the community. I continue to learn.

On Whitehead, just beyond the water tank and across the street from Kelley’s, is a huge metal gate. Tall and wide. Rarely open. I always thought it was merely an entrance to Truman Annex that Truman Annex opted to keep closed. Not so.

Known as the Presidential Gates, they were built in 1906. Designed to be opened for United States Presidents only. The U.S. Navy base was at the far end of the street after entering the Gates.

Truman and Eisenhower used the Gates. A perfect entry to the Little White house.

John Kennedy was the last U.S. President to pass through the Gates. During the Cuban missile crisis in 1962.

We are into hurricane season. A couple of tropical storms so far. None near Key West.

Today, Tropical Storm Franklin is on its way to the Yucatan Peninsula.

Till the end of November, hurricanes will enter into Key west conversations. Especially if one is several days away yet heading directly for us.

How best to describe a hurricane? Recall the movie Key Largo. Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall and Edward G. Robinson. Robinson a big time hoodlum. One of his flunkies was asked what a hurricane was. His response…..The wind blows so hard the ocean gets up on its hind legs and walks right across the land.

An unfortunate incident occurred friday evening at the Hogfish Marina.

Some people had been drinking at the Hogfish bar. One had a dog. Words were exchanged over the dog.

The three ended up at a boat owned by one of them in the marina. Words continued to be exchanged. One man shot another three ties in the groin and shot the dog one time.

The occurrence highly unusual. Nothing of any consequence ever happens at Hogfish other than everyone having a good time.

Key West’s history is rampant with whore houses. No more. Escort Services and Gentlemen’s Clubs are the places to find sex today.

Back at the turn of the century (the 1900’s), many were the brothels in Key West. One the Iron Lady Bar on Duval. The bar itself not the whore house. Upstairs was for that purpose.

A fellow from Pennsylvania owed the bar and its upstairs. His wife 300 pounds. She was the lady of the night. Daytime, also. Available on demand.

Her husband took the fee downstairs at the bar. The men went upstairs to the wife. She insisted that each man take a bath first. There was an old lead bathtub in the room. The bed was referred to as the Playground.

The bath water was changed only once a day. Ughhhh! Customers attempted to time their visits when the water was first poured.

Many who went upstairs were drunk. Some fell asleep in the tub. When awakened, they were dressed and sent back downstairs not knowing they never got to do anything.

The next day the wife would meet the sleepers at the bar and tell them what a great time they had the night before.

Such was Key West in those days.

Enjoy your day!

ONE BOMB…..140,000 DEAD

On this day in 1945, the world changed. Dramatically. The first atomic bomb was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima.

One hundred forty thousand died. That day, 80,000. By the end of the year, an additional 60,000. Injured, 35,000.

Ninety buildings in Hiroshima. Twenty eight were left standing. Two hundred doctors. Only 20 left alive and capable of working. One thousand seven hundred eighty nurses. One hundred fifty left to tend the sick and dying.

The United States dropped a second atomic bomb on Nagasaki 3 days later. Similar results.

The two bombs were the last time a nation has used nuclear weapons in war.

I take the time to share this bit of history because today we may be on the brink of such a war with North Korea. If such occurs, other nations who possess nuclear weapons will feel free to use theirs.

Nuclear war must be avoided. An American city could be the first to be hit.

Big day for the bar keeps today! The Battle of the Bars. A big time fun event. Noon. Schooner Wharf Bar.

William Hackley in his August 5, 1856 journal entry mentioned he came across a turtle’s nest of 123 eggs. I assume he dug them up and took them home to eat as he did once before. He would not have known the number had he not dug them up.

Today, Hackley would go to jail and/or a heavy fine. We protect our turtles! Federal and State laws.

The Poker Run died a couple of months ago because of no sponsor. It’s back again. Not several days as in the past. One day.

Tarpon Springs based Full Throttle magazine is providing the one day sponsorship.

Key West will not provide nothing. The police will be out of course. However, no extra departments have been called in for the event.

I think the one day event is a mistake. The underlying reason is biker gangs that have taken to attending these events. Some were here last year. I fear a gang or two might show up this year to indicate their displeasure with not being welcome.

One problem with the Key West City Commission is that it does not know how to say no to events. We already have too many.

Diana Millikan is back in town. We had dinner together last night at Outback.

Diana is a terrific researcher. She digs. Visits sites. Talks with old timers. It is amazing what she comes up with on occasion.

We are writing a book together.

She died research wise the past two months. I told her vacation time is over and to move her ass. I would like to see the book out in time for Christmas sales.

Joanie! Joanie! Friend from Don’s Place and bocce. Joanie is in Miami in Kendall Regional Hospital. First diagnosis was gall bladder. Doctors not sure.

Joanie works with Jimmy and John. The three were to start painting the inside of my new home in two weeks. Joanie to do the edging.

Love Joanie! Hope all that is within her passes quickly with a dose of one tablespoon of castor oil.

Suicide rates up dramatically with teenagers. Especially, teenage girls.

A study was completed in 2015. Ran from 2007 to 2015. Teenage girls at an all time high. Girl suicide doubled in the time span.

Teenage boys less. Suicide rate up 30 percent.

Reasons include substance abuse. Opiate and heroin overdoses. Also, lingering effects from the 2008 recession.

I have received a number of e-mails re my NO BLOG TODAY message yesterday. I was big time tired. Today, full of piss and vinegar.

Thank you for your concern.

Enjoy your Sunday!

SECRET SERVICE ON STREET OVER RENT DISPUTE WITH TRUMP ORGANIZATION

Trump Tower is listed as the President’s personal residence. His home.

The President is required to have Secret Service protection at all times and at all venues. Even when he might be sleeping elsewhere on a particular night.

The Secret Service utilized the apartment immediately below Trump’s in Trump Tower.

Trump Organization operates the building. Trump Organization and the Secret Service could not agree on rent. In early July, the Secret Service was asked to move. Booted out in the vernacular of the street.

The Secret Service has moved into a trailer which sits on the sidewalk in front of Trump Tower while searching for another place.

The rent demanded had to be astronomical. The Pentagon required space near the President in Trump Towers. The White House Military Office recently agreed to $130,000 a month.

It was revealed last night that Mueller had seated a Grand Jury in Washington several weeks ago. The formal beginning of the end for Trump and his associates from my perspective. It will take time. As much as 1-2 years.

A flavor of Key West was lost on August 3, 1995 never to return. The Copa Nightclub burned down. Totally destroyed. It was rebuilt. However never achieved the prominence it held prior to the fire.

The Copa was a premier gay entertainment palace.

I visited once. My deviate side took over. A Black Mass was scheduled for midnight. Thought it would be interesting.

I was standing enjoying a drink waiting for the show to start. Two guys dressed as nuns walked over and asked if they could hold my balls.

I was out the door as fast as my legs could carry me. Never got to see the show.

Twenty two years ago. Today, I would stand my ground and laugh. I have become acclimated. No one would touch anything. Probably not even ask.

Up early yesterday morning. Took Terri to chemotherapy at 9.

Key West High School has a unique program. I do not recall a similar program when my children were in high school in Utica. Prepares students to produce television and film programs.

One of the most respected such programs in the United States.

I have had experience with some of the students via Jenna Stauffer. She has been involved in utilizing the students for years. I participated in three shows. I was impressed beyond description.

Two of the students have produced the film Paradise. It is being shown locally sunday at 11 at the Tropic cinema. From there it goes to New York City. Producers and film. Paradise has been selected for screening in Times Square by the prestigious American High School Film Festival.

Congratulations to the young people who put Paradise together.

The Palm Avenue bridge is finally going to be repaired. All of it! The roadway, pilings and everything else. Has needed the do over for years.

The bridge is the  short cut to the Gulf side of town. Like where the Chart Room is located.

The only negative is it will take six months to complete the work.

The weekend is here. I am to have dinner with Jenna tonight or tomorrow night. I cannot remember which. The beginnings of Alzheimers. Serious when I cannot recall what evening I am to be with Jenna.

Enjoy your day!

FATHER, I CANNOT TELL A LIE…..I CUT DOWN THE CHERRY TREE

Our President lies.

Yesterday, I set forth Proverb 17:7 to show from a religious perspective it was wrong for a leader to lie. Today, reference is made to American history.

All of us learned about George Washington and cutting down the cherry tree. Children still learn from it.

It never happened. The story is a myth. However one that has taught most of us that people should speak the truth, not lie.

The verbiage has variations. “Father, I cannot tell a lie…..I cut down the cherry tree.” “Father, I cannot tell a lie…..I barked the cherry tree.” “Father, I cannot tell a lie…..I damaged the cherry tree.”

Mason Locke Weems was a writer. Not very successful. In 1800, he wrote a book which was followed by multiple editions. He made things up. To make his works interesting and sell.

The 1806 edition contained the cherry tree story. Weems had Washington 6 years old at the time.

Though Weems’ tale is a fabrication, it continues to teach that everyone should speak the truth. Even Trump.

Stephen Miller is an aide to Trump. His office near the President’s in the White House.

I have spoken poorly of Miller in the past. Deservedly so. He is a propagandist. I have likened him to Joseph Goebbels.

Miller took questions today at the White House before the press corps. He was pitching Trump’s new proposed immigration law. It would cut immigration in half from its present level. It would also require immigrants to speak English before they could be admitted.

CNN’s Jim Acosta asked several piercing questions about the English requirement. His father immigrated from Cuba in the 1960’s unable to speak English.Things got heated. At Miller’s end. He apparently did not like Acosta’s questions. Raised his voice. Implied Acosta was ignorant.

My grandfather came from Italy at the age of 12 in the very early 1900’s. He could not speak English. My grandmother came over later as a teenager. Sixteen. She did not speak English.

My grandparents had eight children. One died. They raised them to be good honest citizens. My grandfather worked his way up in a knitting mill to a supervisory position. His English in due course beautiful. Smooth. Articulate.

My grandmother never learned to speak English. She did not care. Her responsibility was to take care of her husband, children and home. Later, to help care for her grandchildren.

My grandmother raised me in my early years. I spoke Italian before English.

She was a loving woman. Exuded warmth. To be hugged by her was everything.

Lived every day the same way. Her husband, the young ones and her home.

She was up at 5 each morning. Made her husband’s breakfast and got him off to work. Still early. The kids not yet up.

She cleaned her whole house every morning. The kitchen always amused me. She would wrap a clothe around a broom and do the ceilings first. When she was done washing the floor and it had dried, she covered the floor with newspapers.

Neither of my grandparents would be allowed into the United States under the proposed law. I might have ended up a lawyer in Italy instead of here.

My point. They were good people, good citizens. Made their contribution. Their children and grandchildren, also.

I spent a quiet day reading. Waiting for my ankles to go down. Nothing yet.

I will be out of here early this morning. I have to take Terri to chemotherapy.

Enjoy your day!

PROVERB 17: 7 RE A RULER’S LYING LIPS

President Trump lies almost every day. The truth escapes him. Those who do not agree refuse to see that which is blatantly before them.

Church going I am not. Religious I am.

The Ninth Commandment says…..Thou shalt not lie.

Proverb 17:7 appears to have been written in anticipation of a Trump Presidency…..Eloquent lips are unsuited to a godless fool – how much worse lying lips to a ruler.

Yascha Mousk wrote a New York Times Op-Ed recently re Trump. Re his overall conduct.

Mousk’s message….. Beware!

She sees a democratic dissolution in the works, the beginning of authoritarianism. She warns the demise of democracy is gradual and easy to overlook.

Secretary of State Tillerson recently committed a difficult to understand act. He rejected $80 million in the House approved budget for his Department. The purpose of the $80 million to counter propaganda emanating from ISIS and Russia. ISIS terrorist propaganda and Russia’s disinformation.

Tillerson’s reason: He did not wish to aggravate Russia.

The triangle at the intersection of US 1 and the Boulevards is under reconstruction to correct errors made in the original planning. Projected as a 2-3 month job. I forget which.

My complaint is no one is working. The State started the job 3 weeks ago. Activity the first week. Since then, next to nothing. No one working.

Near the end date per the contract, the contractor will tell the State more time required. Which, of course, will result in additional dollars.

The people never win.

Busy afternoon yesterday. Walgreens to pick up a new water pill prescription. Hopefully my ankles will look normal in a few days. Then to Publix. Cupboard bare again.

Returned home. Fine tuned last night’s blog talk radio show.

Enjoyed doing the show. Key topic involved jail prisoners/inmates doing work enuring to the benefit of the State or privately run jailers with little or no benefit to those performing the work.

The 13th Amendment adopted in 1865 freed the slaves, except persons jailed for crimes. Ergo, legal.

Big Latch on Day friday. Part of International Breast Feeding Week. Locally, mothers and babies are asked to join together at the Keys-Eco-Discovery Center at 10 am. Babies all drink at the same time!

John Kennedy was a Lieutenant JG on August 1, 1943. His vessel, PT-109, was sunk by the Japanese. He and his men spent several days on an island waiting rescue. Kennedy’s acts during that time heroic.

In 1962, a movie was to be made regarding the episode. Kennedy was in Key West. With him was Sheriff John Spottswood. Later to be a State Senator.

The location for the filming had not yet been decided. Hollywood was searching for an island.

Spottswood owned Little Munson Island at the time. He suggested Munson to Kennedy. Munson was selected to be the site for the movie.

Little Munson Island no longer known as such. Today, it is the world famous resort Little Palm Key.

Hackley reports Black Matilda better. Not returned home yet. Yellow fever still a concern. She must be completely recovered.

Yellow fever comparable to a plague in 1856. At the same time Black Matilda was sick, a vessel arrived. The steward and mate down with yellow fever. The ship was quarantined at anchor.

Inga is celebrating her 20th anniversary as a drag queen at Aqua. Loved by all! Inga’s real life person Roger Hultman.

Have to hustle. Manicure in an hour.

Enjoy your day!
