I am up early this morning. Babysitting all day.

The grandkids and I have conferred. They are joining me this morning when I get a haircut. They go to Lori, also. So they will not be uncomfortable. Since my hair is so short, a haircut for me takes all of five minutes.

Then off to Boondocks for miniature golf. Followed by a pizza lunch at No Name Pub.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

My recollection is that St. Patrick was not Irish. Sort of Italian. He was a Roman slave transported to Ireland.

Having become a bachelor, there are many things I have had to learn. Housekeeping things. I have conquered the dish washing. The key is to load the dishwasher as you use the dishes, pots and pans. I used to let them sit for a couple of days in the sink. Not the way to go.

Clothes washing and drying still confuse me a bit. The dryer is a problem. but I shall overcome.

I thought I had the washing down to a science. Apparently not. On the golf course yesterday, every one commented on my shorts. They were originally dark brown. Now they have pink spots of all sizes. I know. I misused the bleach/Clorox. I just poured it in on top and apparently too much.

Last night was fun.

Kurt picked me up. We drove to Don’s Place to meet Don and Tom. Had a drink and then headed to the Yacht Club for dinner. A drink at the bar followed by a spectacular meal.

I had yellowfish. Still difficult to chew.

Tino showed up in the midst of dinner. He joined us. I had invited him. He said he could not join us. He was running a domino tournament at the Botanical Gardens. When he showed up, he said he bowed out early. Left his remaining domino responsibilities to his wife Maria. We all laughed. Tino is not one to miss a fun time!

Good conversation. A lot of laughs.

Afterwards, I wanted to go the Larry and Jenna Show at Hogs Breath. Don and Tom begged off. Tino said he had to walk the dog. So Kurt and I went. A good show! As usual! Jenna looked especially attractive in a new off the shoulder blue top.

Tomorrow is the Key West Lou Legal Hour. Jenna is my guest. She is college educated as a TV announcer. She formerly was a TV sports figure. Should be fun.

Join me and Jenna at 10 on the internet at www.konkbroadcasting.com or www.konkam.com. A lot of current news with legal implications to be discussed. You will not be bored! I guarantee it!

Enjoy your day!

Late again today!

I overslept. It will take me about a week to get adjusted to the new time. I overslept and had to run. Or I would have missed my tee time at the golf course!

Golf went well this morning. I played with a pleasant bunch. Don, Tom, Mikey and Tino.

For the second consecutive week, I sucked! Terrible! Though I did play better on the back nine.

Tom was the big winner. I was not the big loser. The different games we play make it possible for me to shoot poorly and still come out ok. Today, I only lost $3. A win as far as I am concerned!

After golf, I had to hurry and pick up Lisa from work. She has a broken ankle and cannot drive.

I look forward to tonight. Dinner at the Yacht club with Don, Tom and Kurt. Then to the Larry and Jenna Show at Hogs Breath.

It will be a good evening.

Enjoy!

Good morning!

Another lovely Key West day in the making.

Yesterday was relatively quiet. I spent the day sitting outside under the tiki hut and writing. Did prep work for friday’s internet show and worked on my novel. Both have become exercises of love.

The subject matter of the novel I am keeping to myself for the time being.

Friday’s show is another story. That I share with you.

I am doing the Key West Lou Legal Hour this week with Jenna Stauffer. Jenna is my producer. She has previously worked as a TV sports announcer. We are going to discuss some issues that have developed this week. Should be fun!

So far the topics include Nathan Bedford Forrest who was the first Imperial Wizard of the Klu Klux Klan, Melly Meadows of Gone With The Wind fame which includes a Japaneese tie in, an update on Private Bradley Manning including the resignation of Hillary Clinton’s press secretary, the tale of the man who shot the first bullet at Fort Sumter and the last one in his head, Indian airline pilots boozing it up, children under curfew in a Ukranian community, Wisconsin and recall, the nuclear disaster in Japan, James Madison who showed us the way to public scrutiny, the high cost of gasoline and food, and more.

Join Jenna and me friday morning at 10. www.konkbroadcasting.com or www.konkam.com.

Today I was up early. I have already been to Verizon, the Dollar Store and Office Max.

Probably more writing today. Might go out tonight. Don’s wife Stephanie is up north visiting for the week. I will probably hook up with him.

Enjoy your day!

No blog yesterday. Sorry. My day got screwed up and I did not get my computer back till last night.

This morning when I went to do today’s blog, the computer was not working again.

I am at Lisa’s once more.

Sunday was wild!

I was lying in bed enjoying Meet the Press when the telephone rang. It was Lisa. She had fallen. Thought her ankle was broke.

On the way to the hospital, Lisa and Corey dropped Robert and Ally off at my home.

The fun began! We had a good time!

For about 5 hours.

We talked. They are very articulate. We played hide go seek upstairs. First time upstairs. They found me all the time. Twice I could not find Ally.

They were hungry. Lunch time.

I have not been eating normally. Not chewing yet.

Also, my choice of food is not the same they get at home.

I had to convince them my meal would be ok. Then I had them help me prepare and cook.

Egg whites. They had never had them. Where was the yellow? I tossed in some corned beef, cheese and mushrooms. They did not recall ever eating mushrooms.

I made it all into an omelet. They enjoyed. Especially the mushrooms.

I had not eaten yet. Remember, I cannot chew. Need blended food.

So I introduced Robert and Ally to the blender. Low carb ice cream, strawberries, jam and no sugar chocolate syrup.

They thought the blender made a lot of noise. The shake was absolutely terrific from their perspectives!

Poppa was a hero!

Lisa telephoned. They were coming to pick up the kids. Her ankle was broken.

Lisa arrived in a large black boot.

My babysitting job was done.

Last night, I did make it to the Gardens. A good crowd. No Kate or Diane. But June and Bill, Mary Joe, Jane, Nancy Robinson and other friends were there. Poor Nancy. She is in her 80s and a most charming woman. Her face and knee were badly bruuised. She looked like someone had beaten her. No, she fell. I admmire Nancy. She did not care she was purple all over. She still went out.

The best at the Gardens were Brent and Cindy. I met them at the Gardens by prearrangement. Cindy is my Facebook friend from Madison, Wisconsin. She and her family were visiting Key West for the week. Cindy is a part time hair dresser. Brent a deputy sheriff. Their one child is 24. They have two grandchildren, both under the age of 2.

Love Cindy! We have been FB friends for about a year. We had a wonderful time together.

The issue of Wisconsin politics came into play. Brent is directly affected. He is a member of a public union as a deputy sheriff.

Both Brent and Cindy are upset with Governor Walker. They feel had. He never campaigned on the agenda he has delivered.

There will be court action. However, recall seems to be the serious bent of the Wisconsin people affected. Brent told me 8 Republican Senators would be put to a recall vote. The petitions are presently being circulated. He also said they would attempt to recall Walker. Wisconsin law provides no recall of a Governor till he has been in office at least 90 days.

Amazing the destruction Walker has wrought in less than 90 days!

Then I was off to Don’s Place. Spent a pleasant couple of hours there.

Talked initially with Joanie. Joanie paints homes and buildings for a living together with her partner Jimmy. Joanie plays bocce. A fun person. A lovely lady. We like each other.

Angus, Mikey, Emmett and Don were there also. Talked with them all. Spent a lot of time chatting with Don. Bocce a big item. Tino showed up for few moments. He was out walking his dog.

I was right regarding Syracuse in the big tournament. I thought they would be a 3 or 4 seed. Many disagreed with me. They saw them as a 5 or 6. Turns out Syracuse is the #3 seed in the East.

The East is a tough bracket. Ohio State is seeded #1, North Carolina #2. Syracuse has its work cut out making it to the Final Four.

Lisa made it to work today. I have to bring her her lunch. It was her right ankle she broke. She cannot drive.

Enjoy!

Another good day in Key West!

I am at Lisa’s.

The biggest thing I can talk about today is my granddaughter Ally. Five years old. In kindergarten.

She knows how to tie her shoe laces! She could not wait to tell me and show me.

I started teaching her a couple of weeks ago. Shoe lace tying is tough!

I got her three quarters of the way there. The final step was difficult for her. So I stopped teaching. I figured she could use a rest.

Yesterday all alone she figured it out for herself! A genius! I am proud of her!

Her brother Robert is a year older than Ally. He does not know how to tie shoe laces. The reason why is that he never had shoes with laces. This morning Corey and Lisa bought him new shoes that have shoe laces. Ally is going to teach him. He will be adept at it by tomorrow morning!

The Key West Lou Legal Hour yesterday was again well received. Wisconsin, the Muslim radicalization hearings and Donald Trump’s possible run for President garnered the most comment.

Jenna has been helping me with the show. She is my producer. Next week we are going to try something different. Jenna and I are going to do the show together. Could be good, could be bad. We shall see.

Prior to coming to Key West, Jenna was a sports announcer at a television station up north.

After yesterday’s show, I headed over to Lee Nails. Time for a manicure. Tammy was her usual pleasant self.

The place was packed. Many waiting to be serviced. Tammy was short staffed. Three of her employees had called in sick. Fortunately, I had an appointment and did not have to wait.

Last night started with the Chart Room.

Michael bartending.

Captain Peter there. I have not seen the Captain in a couple of months. He told me he had just returned to Key West yesterday.

The Captain had traveled a bit. He went to Nicaragua to visit his former wife. He followed that trip with one to the State of Washington. There was some kind of mussel, clam, lobster festival. He had gone many years ago and wanted to do it again. Michael and I thought he was crazy. We have similar festivals in Key West frequently. In fact, there is one today.

The Captain’s trip back from Washington took 4 days. By plane.

The first leg of the trip was out of Seattle. The plane sat on the runway for a while and then returned to the gate. Some problem. Could not take off. He was put up overnight by the airline.

His next stop was Chicago. Weather problems. Could not take off. They put him up in Chicago for the night.

Somehow he ended up in Dallas the next day. Could not get out of Dallas. The airline put him up overnight again.

The next day he was in Miami. No crew available for the flight to Key West. The airline put him up for a fourth night.

Needless to say, the Captain was not a happy camper when we met up last night.

Michael had an interesting story.

His lap top was stolen. He telephoned the Key West Police. An officer came to his home on. Took the theft report. Then he told Michael to put his arms behind his back. He was being arrested. The officer’s computer showed an outstanding arrest warrant going back to 2004.

When he was booked, Michael found out the arrest warrant was for failing to appear on a traffic ticket charge. Turns out Michael had lost his driver’s license around the time the ticket was given. Obviously someone else had used his license when stopped on the traffic charge. It also turned out that Michael was out of the country at the time.

All this took a few days to prove. Michael was in jail from a tuesday to monday. Bail was set at $1,500. He did not have it. He could not get a bail bondsman. His cell phone was at home with everyone’s numbers.

I told him if he had called me, I would have bailed him out.

He obviously was not thinking straight while incarcerated.

The judge let him go monday with the court’s apology.

Michael gave me permission to tell of his experience. As he said, every one already knows I was arrested. In Key West, any person arrested is photographed. Their picture is carried on a web site immediately. Most Key Westers make a point of checking the pics every day to see if any one they know has been arrested. I do not.

After the Chart Room, I headed to the Sports Page Bar. Syracuse and Connecticut. Syracuse lost. A close game. Both teams played terrific defensive basketball in the first half.

No more Syracuse basketball till next week. I anticipate Syracuse will be a number 3 or 4 seed in the big tournament.

Following the game, I went to Don’s Place. Hooked up with Beebe and Rob. Enjoyed their company for a couple of hours.

Today? I don’t know yet what I will be doing.

Enjoy your day!

It is high noon on friday!

I am at Lisa’s doing today’s blog. My computer is still down.

The big item today without question is the quake in Japan. I have never seen anything so powerful or destructive as today’s tsunami.

Modern communication is wonderful. It was there on the TV for all to see as we woke this morning.

The quake was an 8.9. Big! The tsunami 30 feet high. Wild! I read in one of the news reports that the energy of the quake was equal to one month’s energy consumption in the United States!

Then the tsunami hits Hawaii. Six foot waves. The west coast of the United States is readying itself for a further tsunami hit.

What I saw on TV this morning in Japan had biblical quality to it. The videos reminded me of storms described in the Old Testament when God got mad about something. Like the locusts falling on Egypt when the Pharoah would not let Moses’ people leave.

Key West weather changed abruptly yesterday. An early afternoon rainstorm of monsoon proportions. Big wind. Knocked over and otherwise moved around my heavy deck furniture.

The storm was a prelude to the cold front which came upon us last night. It got down to 61 degrees during the evening. The high today is projected at 67.

I am wearing jeans, a shirt and a windbreaker.

Tomorrow is a return to normal. Almost 80 degree weather.

The new bocce season was to have started last night. It did not. Canceled. The clay had not settled. The rain water did not soak in properly. I received a telephone call from Don telling me people were up to their ankles on the courts.

I did my internet show this morning. The Key West Lou Legal Hour. Fun! Terrific! I will comment further on it in tomorrow’s blog.

As you know, I do a daily legal blog on Amazon Kindle. Many of you have subscribed to it. I started receiving complaints that subscribers were only able to receive my first blog. I went at it with Amazon big time this week. They assure me the problem is resolved. Just go on Kindle or I pod and locate Key West Lou Law. All the back blogs should be available and from this point forward you should be receiving the new ones on a daily basis.

Because of the Kindle problem, I did not write any legal blogs this past week. I will start anew tomorrow.

Syracuse won again yesterday. Beat St. John. Another game tonight. Go Cuse!

Enjoy your day!

Good morning!

Another lovely Key West day. With one addition. It is humid.

Syracuse plays its first game in the Big East Tournament today. 2 pm. Madison Square Garden. Against St. John. It will be a heck of a game!

Tonight bocce! The opening match of a new season. I am excited. Everyone who plays is excited. Hope we do better this season than last. We did some trading. We have two new players.

Tomorrow morning is the Key West Lou Legal Hour. My friends around the world can tune into the show on the internet. Konk has two internet sites. www.konkbroadcasting.com and www.konkam.com. Ten tomorrow morning Eastern Standard Time.

Every week is more controversial and challenging than the previous one. Ergo, I have much to talk about. Tomorrow’s highlights include Supreme Court Justice Thomas and his tax returns, black eyed peas, women demonstrating in the Ivory Coast killed/one beheaded, Congressman Kelley’s Muslim radicalization hearings, Wisconsin, Wikileaks suspect forced to sleep nude, 17th century letters of a woman accused of sleeping with the devil, Anna Chapman and crime pays, Philadelphia Archdiocese suspends 21 priests named in child molestation investigation, Egyptian men attack female protestors, Court supports Exxon on Alaska’s request for extra funds for Valdez spill cleanup, CIGNA, Florida and smoking lawsuits, Acevedo appeal denied, California woman slips on a banana peel, UFOs, and more.

A good show! Stimulating and thought provoking! Please share the hour with me.

Enjoy your day!

Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is after 2 in the afternoon. Seems strange to be doing the blog so late. I just finished golf and am at Lisa’s.

Key West weather today outstanding! As usual. Sunny. Few clouds. A good breeze. No humidity. Mid 80s.

After finishing yesterday’s blog, I went over to the bocce courts. Someone gave me a set of bocce balls for Christmas. I wanted to see the new courts. And practice a bit for thursday’s opening matches.

The new bocce courts are magnificent! Four feet longer. Which means four feet harder. Side walls that have a bounce to them. Concrete surrounding the courts.

Thank you City of Key West!

The only problem was the clay. It is new and not yet settled. Could take a couple of months. Made the ball direction uncertain with almost every throw.

It will be an interesting evening tomorrow!

I was dripping wet after bocce practice. The sun was boiling and there was no shade. I headed over to Smathers Beach to cool off.

Glad I went!

The college kids are in town. This is their time. The young ladies are lovely. Actually it is their bathing suits that make them so lovely. Most bottoms were minimal. Made for interesting gazing. I was glad I was wearing dark sun glasses.

A dirty old man I am not. Or maybe I am. I do not know. What I do know is that at 75 I am glad I still find the female body interesting.

Later when I returned home, I sat on my deck awhile. More college students on break.

The MTV house across the way must be rented to college students. Droves of them. Plus boats were going back and forth in front of me. All jam packed, perhaps overloaded, with college people.

And in each instance, most of the young ladies were attired as they were at Smathers Beach.

Interestingly, back in the 1950s when I was in college, I never experienced a break trip south. Who had the money? Very few made such trips back then. In addition, female bathing suits were not as now. Most young ladies wore one piece suits. If it was a two piece, it was a full bottom. Not the string jobs of today.

Golf this morning!

I played terrible! Worse than terrible! Even whiffed twice! Shot 125.

I played with Don, Larry and Leo. We picked Leo up at he pro shop. He is down here on vacation with his wife Peggy. They are from Lexington, Massachusetts. Mature people. Leo is a retired school teacher. Peggy teaches pre-school.

Peggy did not play. She rode around with her husband.

Don and I rode together. We noticed how attentive Peggy was to Leo. Always touching him. Her arm around his shoulder. Sitting close to him in the cart.

Don and I concluded this had to be a second marriage for the both of them. Based on our belief that as a couple ages, the indicias of warmth are fewer and sometimes never more.

I asked Peggy at one point how long they were married. Forty nine years she responded! I was shocked. Don was shocked. I told Leo and Peggy why I asked. They both laughed. God bless them! I am thrilled that they have such a relationship in their senior years. I wish I had been that lucky.

Getting back to the golf play, no question I played bad. However I did not have to pay any money. Every one decided to call it a draw. I think every one felt bad for me. I would have had to find an ATM machine to meet my golf debt.

Tonight I go out! Definitely!

Don’s Place, the Chart Room and then Hogsbreath to see the Larry and Jenna Show.

My Facebook friend Cindy is in Key West with her family. She telephoned me yesterday to tell me they had arrived. They are from Michigan and had driven down. I hope to hook up with them at some point. Perhaps tonight.

Kurt is supposed to be with me tonight. However reports have it that he did the town last night. I am not sure what condition he will be in this evening.

While my computer is being rehabed, I am at Lisa’s using her computer and Corey’s. I did yesterday’s blog on Corey’s computer. Of course, I screwed up. The copy of the blog that I attach to Facebook was improperly sent by me on Corey’s Facebook site. So some of you never received it. Sorry.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Yesterday was a disaster!

I spent the morning with the dentist and the afternoon with my heart doctor. The dentist got rid of the pain that plagued me for several days. The heart doctor visit was supposed to be a routine one. My blood pressure was out of whack! Both ends high. I who run generally 110 over 60. A baby’s blood pressure! We assume and hope it was from the jaw pain I was experiencing for several days. We shall see.

This morning was lovely! The days here in Key West are magnificent. I could taste and smell spring and the ocean this morning. Wild!

Bocce starts thursday. I may practice a bit this afternoon. I received a set of balls for my birthday last year. I have not used them yet.

The bocce courts are new. The City of Key West went for all new courts. I can’t wait to see them.

My blog will be late tomorrow. My computer still down. I am at Lisa’s. Tomorrow morning is golf. I will not have time prior to golf to drive into town to do the blog. So do not look for it till at least 3 in the afternoon.

Kurt telephoned this morning. He wanted to take me to the Strip House for dinner tonight. Not yet, I had to tell him. Still not chewing. Especially steak. Maybe in a month.

Kurt is a scratch golfer. He has not played in months. Shoulder injury. Major surgery. Still recovering. He said he would show up however and drive me around the course. The last time he did, I played very well. He coached just about every shot I hit.

We also made plans to go out tomorrow night. A little of Don’s Place, the Chart Room and the Larry and Jenna Show at Hogfish.

Enjoy your day!

Not good morning! Good afternoon!

I finally made it to Lisa’s. It is just before 2 in the afternoon.

I had pain over the weekend. I had pain this morning. My jaw. So it was to the dentist again today. For almost two hours! I hope I am better. To soon to tell.

This is a doctor day. I have a 3 o’clock check up with the heart doctor.

I am beginning to think this is what old age is all about. Doctor, doctor, doctor!

Yesterday was pleasant.

I laid in bed watching the talk shows in the morning. Then some beach time. Bought some New York papers and went to Higgs Beach. Sat in the shade. Looked at the girls and read. All the while suffering with my jaw.

Last night I finally made the Gardens. Kate Miano’s gem! Big crowd! Around 150 people. Many friends. Chatted with Island Shoe Lady Stephanie, Frank, Diane, June and Bill, Kate and many more.

John Fairbrother came over to say hello. At first I did not recall who he was. Then it hit me. John and I met at the Chart Room about a year ago. He is a Navy officer stationed in Key West. He was at the Gardens with his wife Marcy. Nice people.

I had planned on staying out last night and going to the Pier House. Sunday is Larry Smith’s Showcase in the Wine Galley. The featured performer last night was Rose Bonanza. I had never hear her sing. Everyone was talking about her this week. I decided I had to hear her perform.

My jaw interfered. It was killing me while I was at the Gardens. I went home instead.

Enjoy your day!
