Good morning!

Another lovely Key West day. With one addition. It is humid.

Syracuse plays its first game in the Big East Tournament today. 2 pm. Madison Square Garden. Against St. John. It will be a heck of a game!

Tonight bocce! The opening match of a new season. I am excited. Everyone who plays is excited. Hope we do better this season than last. We did some trading. We have two new players.

Tomorrow morning is the Key West Lou Legal Hour. My friends around the world can tune into the show on the internet. Konk has two internet sites. www.konkbroadcasting.com and www.konkam.com. Ten tomorrow morning Eastern Standard Time.

Every week is more controversial and challenging than the previous one. Ergo, I have much to talk about. Tomorrow’s highlights include Supreme Court Justice Thomas and his tax returns, black eyed peas, women demonstrating in the Ivory Coast killed/one beheaded, Congressman Kelley’s Muslim radicalization hearings, Wisconsin, Wikileaks suspect forced to sleep nude, 17th century letters of a woman accused of sleeping with the devil, Anna Chapman and crime pays, Philadelphia Archdiocese suspends 21 priests named in child molestation investigation, Egyptian men attack female protestors, Court supports Exxon on Alaska’s request for extra funds for Valdez spill cleanup, CIGNA, Florida and smoking lawsuits, Acevedo appeal denied, California woman slips on a banana peel, UFOs, and more.

A good show! Stimulating and thought provoking! Please share the hour with me.

Enjoy your day!

Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is after 2 in the afternoon. Seems strange to be doing the blog so late. I just finished golf and am at Lisa’s.

Key West weather today outstanding! As usual. Sunny. Few clouds. A good breeze. No humidity. Mid 80s.

After finishing yesterday’s blog, I went over to the bocce courts. Someone gave me a set of bocce balls for Christmas. I wanted to see the new courts. And practice a bit for thursday’s opening matches.

The new bocce courts are magnificent! Four feet longer. Which means four feet harder. Side walls that have a bounce to them. Concrete surrounding the courts.

Thank you City of Key West!

The only problem was the clay. It is new and not yet settled. Could take a couple of months. Made the ball direction uncertain with almost every throw.

It will be an interesting evening tomorrow!

I was dripping wet after bocce practice. The sun was boiling and there was no shade. I headed over to Smathers Beach to cool off.

Glad I went!

The college kids are in town. This is their time. The young ladies are lovely. Actually it is their bathing suits that make them so lovely. Most bottoms were minimal. Made for interesting gazing. I was glad I was wearing dark sun glasses.

A dirty old man I am not. Or maybe I am. I do not know. What I do know is that at 75 I am glad I still find the female body interesting.

Later when I returned home, I sat on my deck awhile. More college students on break.

The MTV house across the way must be rented to college students. Droves of them. Plus boats were going back and forth in front of me. All jam packed, perhaps overloaded, with college people.

And in each instance, most of the young ladies were attired as they were at Smathers Beach.

Interestingly, back in the 1950s when I was in college, I never experienced a break trip south. Who had the money? Very few made such trips back then. In addition, female bathing suits were not as now. Most young ladies wore one piece suits. If it was a two piece, it was a full bottom. Not the string jobs of today.

Golf this morning!

I played terrible! Worse than terrible! Even whiffed twice! Shot 125.

I played with Don, Larry and Leo. We picked Leo up at he pro shop. He is down here on vacation with his wife Peggy. They are from Lexington, Massachusetts. Mature people. Leo is a retired school teacher. Peggy teaches pre-school.

Peggy did not play. She rode around with her husband.

Don and I rode together. We noticed how attentive Peggy was to Leo. Always touching him. Her arm around his shoulder. Sitting close to him in the cart.

Don and I concluded this had to be a second marriage for the both of them. Based on our belief that as a couple ages, the indicias of warmth are fewer and sometimes never more.

I asked Peggy at one point how long they were married. Forty nine years she responded! I was shocked. Don was shocked. I told Leo and Peggy why I asked. They both laughed. God bless them! I am thrilled that they have such a relationship in their senior years. I wish I had been that lucky.

Getting back to the golf play, no question I played bad. However I did not have to pay any money. Every one decided to call it a draw. I think every one felt bad for me. I would have had to find an ATM machine to meet my golf debt.

Tonight I go out! Definitely!

Don’s Place, the Chart Room and then Hogsbreath to see the Larry and Jenna Show.

My Facebook friend Cindy is in Key West with her family. She telephoned me yesterday to tell me they had arrived. They are from Michigan and had driven down. I hope to hook up with them at some point. Perhaps tonight.

Kurt is supposed to be with me tonight. However reports have it that he did the town last night. I am not sure what condition he will be in this evening.

While my computer is being rehabed, I am at Lisa’s using her computer and Corey’s. I did yesterday’s blog on Corey’s computer. Of course, I screwed up. The copy of the blog that I attach to Facebook was improperly sent by me on Corey’s Facebook site. So some of you never received it. Sorry.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Yesterday was a disaster!

I spent the morning with the dentist and the afternoon with my heart doctor. The dentist got rid of the pain that plagued me for several days. The heart doctor visit was supposed to be a routine one. My blood pressure was out of whack! Both ends high. I who run generally 110 over 60. A baby’s blood pressure! We assume and hope it was from the jaw pain I was experiencing for several days. We shall see.

This morning was lovely! The days here in Key West are magnificent. I could taste and smell spring and the ocean this morning. Wild!

Bocce starts thursday. I may practice a bit this afternoon. I received a set of balls for my birthday last year. I have not used them yet.

The bocce courts are new. The City of Key West went for all new courts. I can’t wait to see them.

My blog will be late tomorrow. My computer still down. I am at Lisa’s. Tomorrow morning is golf. I will not have time prior to golf to drive into town to do the blog. So do not look for it till at least 3 in the afternoon.

Kurt telephoned this morning. He wanted to take me to the Strip House for dinner tonight. Not yet, I had to tell him. Still not chewing. Especially steak. Maybe in a month.

Kurt is a scratch golfer. He has not played in months. Shoulder injury. Major surgery. Still recovering. He said he would show up however and drive me around the course. The last time he did, I played very well. He coached just about every shot I hit.

We also made plans to go out tomorrow night. A little of Don’s Place, the Chart Room and the Larry and Jenna Show at Hogfish.

Enjoy your day!

Not good morning! Good afternoon!

I finally made it to Lisa’s. It is just before 2 in the afternoon.

I had pain over the weekend. I had pain this morning. My jaw. So it was to the dentist again today. For almost two hours! I hope I am better. To soon to tell.

This is a doctor day. I have a 3 o’clock check up with the heart doctor.

I am beginning to think this is what old age is all about. Doctor, doctor, doctor!

Yesterday was pleasant.

I laid in bed watching the talk shows in the morning. Then some beach time. Bought some New York papers and went to Higgs Beach. Sat in the shade. Looked at the girls and read. All the while suffering with my jaw.

Last night I finally made the Gardens. Kate Miano’s gem! Big crowd! Around 150 people. Many friends. Chatted with Island Shoe Lady Stephanie, Frank, Diane, June and Bill, Kate and many more.

John Fairbrother came over to say hello. At first I did not recall who he was. Then it hit me. John and I met at the Chart Room about a year ago. He is a Navy officer stationed in Key West. He was at the Gardens with his wife Marcy. Nice people.

I had planned on staying out last night and going to the Pier House. Sunday is Larry Smith’s Showcase in the Wine Galley. The featured performer last night was Rose Bonanza. I had never hear her sing. Everyone was talking about her this week. I decided I had to hear her perform.

My jaw interfered. It was killing me while I was at the Gardens. I went home instead.

Enjoy your day!

Good morning world!

It is Sunday!

I am alive and well!

I did not write a blog yesterday. Computer problems. Still not resolved. I am at Lisa’s this morning doing this blog.

I must have had at least 30 phone calls starting yesterday afternoon. Are you ok? Sick? What’s wrong? Why no blog?

Thank you for your concern.

Syracuse basketball was on the agenda yesterday. Syracuse played Depaul. Syracuse was favored. Depaul is in the cellar in the Big East. But the Big East is not predictable. On any given day, any team can beat another.

Syracuse won. Big. 107-59. Boeheim tried not to run up the score. In the first half, all ten of his players played. And all scored. It was that kind of game.

I am not overly excited by the Syracuse win. It was too easy. It was Syracuse’s last game of the season. I thought the team needed to be tested more for the tournaments ahead.

I ran into a friend from last year at the Sports Page Bar. We watched the game together. His name is Scott. He is a retired lawyer from Chicago. He just returned from Brazil. We watched Syracuse games together last year.

After the game, I was off to the Chart Room. Michael and I chatted for a while. Also spoke with some tourists. Everyone was in a Key West partying mood.

Then to Don’s Place. Ran into Russ. We were talking at the bar. Russ is the chef at The Strip Joint. A fellow by the name of Skip joined us. First time we met Skip. A political discussion ensued. Heated on occasion. Friendly fire, though.

Skip is a dye in the wool Republican. Russ and I Democrats. After Skip left, Russ and I concluded that Skip was more of a Democrat than he realized.

Then home to bed.

Marty telephoned me this morning. Finally! He has been a bit ill. Now better. We shall be seeing him soon in Key West.

I was relieved hearing from Marty. I thought some terrible illness had befallen him and he was not sharing it. Many people have asked about Marty. The word, my friends, is he is ok!

The last few days the media has been carrying a news story about a 16 year old athlete who died after making the winning shot in a basketball game. His name was Wes Leonard. Lived in Fennville, Michigan. Described as an all American kid. Star in basketball and football. A good student. Admired by faculty and students.

An autopsy revealed Wes died from cardiomyopathy. An enlarged heart.

I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy a little more than two years ago. Chest pains and tiredness sent me to a heart doctor. A change in my lifestyle and medication straightened me out in a year. My heart compressed to a normal size and started working effectively again.

How can a 16 year old know he has an enlarged heart? Especially an athlete.

A sad occurrence. The young should not die. Parents should not bury a child.

What more can be said.

I do not anticipate my computer being fixed till Tuesday. So this blog will be late again tomorrow.

Thank you for your indulgence.

Enjoy your Sunday!

It is early afternoon.

Sorry to be so late with the blog. I won’t bore you with an excuse.

Yesterday was a work day. After the dentist, I worked on today’s internet show all afternoon into the early evening. I was behind.

The Key West Lou Legal Hour was good this morning. Actually, better than good. Terrific!

There is so much happening. So much to talk about. It is actually easy to do a great show.

A lot of response since the show. Pedophilia and Sharia law topped the interest poll.

This past week a two year old girl was raped at Orlando’s Sea World. The bad guy actually photographed the event on his cell phone. He has been arrested. Of course, he does not know where the pictures came from.

There was supposed to have been an Islamic rally in front of the White House today. Its purpose was to assist in implementing Sharia law in the United States. The rally was called off by its leader. Allegedly because he and his group suddenly had something more important to do. Like thwarting the United State’s efforts to colonize the Arab world. Crazy people!

One of the avowed purposes of the Islamic group is to remodel the White House into a White Masjid. A masjid is a mosque.

Beware!

After the show, I had another dentist visit. I am recovering. Slowly, however. I have been on a liquid diet for three weeks. As a result, I have lost 12 pounds. Something good coming from something bad!

Tonight I hope to go out. Where, I do not know. But out it is!

Enjoy your day!

A weather forecaster I will never be!

I predicted rain yesterday. I was hopeful it would hold off till I finished golf. It sprinkled a bit as I drove to the golf course. That was it! The day was magnificent! Sunny and warm!

I played with Don, Larry and Michael. Michael is a friend visiting Don from up north.

I played poorly. Fortunately only lost $13. Michael was the big winner. $24. He made most of it on the par 5 18th. He shot a natural par. Had 2 strokes, however. Ended with a net eagle 3.

There were 12 of us to play yesterday. We played in 3 groups of four.

Emmett played in one of the other groups. Shot good! I take back my statement from last week that I could beat him.

Nate played in one of the other groups, also. A fine golfer. A gentleman. Manages the bars at Bagatelle’s. He shot 70! A par round! Congratulations, Nate!

We all spent time after golf sitting on the porch of the club house and chatting. Better stated, solving the world’s problems.

Last night I was out and about. With Don and Michael.

We started at Don’s Place.

The next stop was the Chart Room. Only briefly.

Then to Hogsbreath for the Larry and Jenna Show. Excellent!

Ran into Cheryl and Roger, Patti, Harry and his wife, and Rick.

We stopped at Island Dogs after we left Hogsbreath. The last time I was there was 7 years ago. There is a new owner. Mike and Nancy’s son in law. Mike and Nancy work at Don’s Place. I liked Island Dogs. Cheerful. Many people. Good prices.

Tommorrow, I do my internet show. At 10 in the morning. You can watch at www.konkam.com or www.konkbroadcasting.com.

A good show is planned. The Key West Lou Legal Hour will touch on Wisconsin, pedophelia in Orlando, Atlantic City, Ecuador and an enviromental case, a Sharia law revisit, a Polish hunter and his elephant hunt, a rat on an Alaskan Airlines plane, high speed rail, Florida and smoking lawsuits, and much more.

Try to join me. You will enjoy!

My first stop today is the dentist. I am feeling better.

Enjoy your day!

All good things must come to an end.

Unfortunately.

Key West weather has been perfect for weeks. Today it will be less so.

When I stepped outside, I could taste the salt in the air. The sky is full of gray clouds. Rain? Not today. I play golf!

The weather report calls for scattered showers. I hope it holds off till I finish 18.

My girls left me yesterday. Donna and Terri drove off. Their first stop is New York and then Washington. The house is quiet. I shall miss them.

They lead a strange life. They were to leave at 10 yesterday morning. It was close to 10. I asked them when they were going to pack the car. They said we already did it. At 2 this morning when we came home! Home meaning my house.

Safe trip, ladies! I enjoyed having you here.

I walked afterwards. Duval from the Atlantic to the Gulf and back. Tourists all over. Having a good time. Laughing. Enjoying all that is Key West.

Then to the Coffee House. Sipped and read. Chatted with a few friends.

The cupboard was bare again. Stopped at Publix. Prices have been creeping up the past few weeks. To the point where the bill increase has become significant. So, too, with gasoline. Up $ .40 a gallon in Key West.

We are heading for trouble!

I stopped at Lisa’s at 4. Had to babysit. Lisa had an appoinment. Corey was flying in from Louisville at 5. My job was to watch the grandkids and pick up Corey.

Robert and Ally were excited. Their father was coming home!

As soon as Corey came through the gate, they ran to him. Jumped all over him. They love their
Dad. It was obvious they had missed him. They talked non stop to him on the drive home.

This morning golf. Hope we finish.

Kurt telephoned last night. He still cannot play. His shoulder surgery continues to heal. He is coming to the golf course, however. He will drive me. The best golfer in our group driving me, the worst!

Last friday’s internet show is available anytime on demand. You can watch the Key West Lou Legal Hour at www.tikilive.com/video/30769.

Enjoy your day!

I am up early this morning. Ahead of the sun.

The weather was fantastic again yesterday. Sunny. In the 80s.

I walked. Started on the the Atlantic side of the island. Through the grounds of the Southernmost and Reach. Down Duval to the Gulf. And back.

Back was to the coffee House. Glanced through the papers. Chatted a bit.

Spent the afternoon under the tiki hut writing. Periodically sat back, looked out over the water and thought about this and that. Nothing things.

Donna and Terri leave today. First stop is New York. Terri has more tap dancing rehearsal time in preparation for the Follies show. She does a solo seven minute tap dancing routine in the show. Then they are off to Washington for two months. One for rehearsal, the other for the show.

I took them out last night. They already had a dinner engagement. So we had drinks on the deck of Louie’s Backyard. As the sun set.

Then I was off alone to Hogfish for dinner. A couple of diet cokes. I am not able to chew yet. Sat at the bar. Enjoyed the company of some local fisherman.

Enjoy your day!
