HAPPY BIRTHDAY…..BRIA ANSARA

Posted on June 13, 2018 by keywestlou

Bria Ansara. One of Key West’s most loved persons, outstanding entertainer, school teacher, and more.

Today, her birthday. Happy Birthday, dear lady!

Never waste a birthday. A party in Bria’s honor tonight. At Bourbon Street, 8-10. Stop by, enjoy a drink, and wish Bria a happy birthday.

Another Key West suicide. Catching. Last week the most recent till monday morning. A 27 year old man hung himself in the Galleon garage.

He did it on social media. The event was live streamed. Once the police became aware, they were able to close it down.

Life is tough. There are good days, however. We live for them. I sympathize for those who cannot make it through the down times.

May he rest in peace.

Dueling Bartenders monday night unusually good. Terri White and Laura Richardson guest singers. Joined Tom Luna.

Rick Dery sadly not present. His brother died and he was in New Jersey with family. My condolences.

Jean Thornton came in. A hug and kiss.

Jean’s birthday a few days earlier. Tom Luna surprised her with a cake. Marble with a purple frosting. Delightful candles. Like I had never seen before. We all sang Happy Birthday and enjoyed a piece of the cake. Delicious!

Liz and Josefina at the bar. Also, Joseph and Linda, Donna, and Laura’s parents. Plus many others.

There is an annual event called Swim Around Key West. The event will take place saturday. Its 42nd year.

The race an endurance one. 12.5 miles around Key West. One hundred eighty five swimmers from 6 countries participating. Last year, a 52 year old man won.

Boog Powell a famous name in the annals of professional baseball. Played 16 years, most of them with the Baltimore Orioles. A first baseman, he was the American League MVP in 1970. Played in 2 World Series which Baltimore won.

Boog got his start in Key West. Played for the Key West High School. On this day in 1959, he signed a contract to play with the Baltimore Orioles. What followed, baseball history.

We know the middle class is gone today. It was already gone when Bob Smith wrote BOB in the mid-1990’s. He wrote a chapter about the classes changing and some being different. The chapter was titled Musical Chairs.

Remember, he is writing what I am about to quote 20 years ago.

BOB said, “How is it possible for a society with a vigorous middle class only twenty years ago to slip into a redefined three-tiered society? The top didn’t change. The middle disappeared. The bottom seems to have split into the poor and the non-reflectors.”

BOB considered non-reflectors to be those in the bottom class who are alive but no longer counted, etc. In effect, do not exist from a governmental perspective.

BOB claims Bob told him,  “The measure of any society is how well it treats itself .”

BOB asks, “What the hell happened? Somebody is dealing off the bottom of the deck. The rich got richer, the middle class shrunk to zero, and the poor stayed about the same…..It was inevitable that someone had to become invisible…..about the same time the razor wire went up on the chain link fences.”

My yesterday a disaster. As you already know, I stayed up all monday night till 6 tuesday morning watching Singapore Summit news on TV. Started my blog 2 hours late. Did not get to final prep for last night’s podcast till 1:30. Need the internet to research. Computer down. As was TV and land line. Comcast was down!

Comcast did not return till 6:30. Could not begin researching. A letter on the screen from my bank. Someone was trying to cash a $2,800 check that was not mine. The bank froze everything on me. I could not even look at my account on the screen.

After 2 hours, 3 different people, and endless waiting, the problem was resolved.

It was 8:30. The podcast began at 9.

I winged the show! Came out ok. Listened to it afterwards. I could not distinguish it from a show which had taken hours to prepare.

Yesterday, I wrote I was happy with Trump to the extent that he and Kim had a greet and meet. War talk had become yesterday’s news. The two now knew each other. Would talk through problems in the future.

As the day progressed, it became evident I was too quick to say in effect good job Trump. He screwed up as usual. Lied big time.

What bothers me most is that he yesterday said the one and a half page agreement signed did not contain everything. I thought it said nothing. Trump said he and Kim agreed on many things not in the agreement. Including denuclearization, time frames, etc. However, they were only together a couple of hours and there was no time to do a long drawn out agreement.

He lied! As he always does. Trump gave away the farm and got nothing in return. Denuclearization probably never discussed and never to be. Trump was setting himself up to say in the future when Kim does not deliver re denuclearization that he told me he was going to do it and did not. Trump blaming someone else again for his shortcoming.

Our county is in dire danger with Trump as its head. Too many fail to see it. I say to them…..Wake up before it is too late!

Rudy Giuliani disparaged Stormy Daniels last week. In so doing, he disparaged women in general.

People who live in glass houses should not throw stones. Rudy’s background a sexually charged one. I wrote about it for KONK Life this week. The article titled Rudy Giuliani Sexcapades hits the stands at 5 this evening.

Enjoy your day!
