This public urinals thing upon which I have been commenting has taken on a life of its own. Began with Paris and Berlin. From there throughout various European and Asian cities. Required primarily because of males peeing in the streets. Women not involved.
Yesterday, Amsterdam. Public urinals installed for men because 51 over a 3 year period fell into canals and drowned while peeing into the canals.
Today, poop. Hard to believe. These things keep popping up on the internet.
San Francisco has the problem.
San Francisco decriminalized public defecation and urination.
Vagrants primarily began defecating in the streets. Specific neighborhoods. The technical term vagrant generated feces.
The problem reached crisis proportions. At least 1,000 dumpings per week. One July week reached epic proportions. Sixteen thousand.
San Francisco has created a Poop Patrol to deal with the problem. The effect, not the cause. The Poop Patrol consists of 5 staffers and 1 supervisor.
A stinking job! Pays well, however. $71,760 per year. With benefits, $184, 678.
I wonder what type resume is required to rise to the top of the pile so as to be selected for the job?
Portland has a similar problem. Still figuring out how to deal with it.
New York City somewhat of a problem. How to dispose of the sludge/shit coming from toilets as well as off the streets. There was a time when the City dumped it through pipes 106 miles out into the ocean. No more. Against the law.
New York dumps the stuff in huge containers and ships them off via railroads to landfills around the country. One of the places was a landfill in Parrish, Alabama. Forty miles outside of Birmingham.
A long train double stacked with these containers got stuck in Parrish. For some reason, not dumped. The stink became overwhelming. People up in arms.
The matter was finally dealt with. Parrish has also cancelled its contract with New York City to take the waste.
The U.S. is not immune from body excretion problems.
A full day yesterday.
Early voted. Me and 2 others at the time.
Gwen Graham is running for the Democratic nod for Governor. I have seen no advertising of any nature on her behalf in Key West. Some opposing ads.
I would not even have known who she is were it not for Dorothy Downs who has homes in Miami and Key West. She has been e-mailing me re Graham. A personal friend. Working on the campaign. Claims Graham is exceptionally smart. The wife of former Florida Governor and U.S. Senator Graham.
I voted for Graham. Only because of Dorothy. If Graham wins, I hope she has a war chest sufficient to buy media ads in the Keys.
A haircut with Lori at noon. Followed by lunch at Sandy’s Cafe.
Last night, the Chart Room first. Quiet. John bartending.
Sheila seated at the bar with a friend. Erika.
Sheila a person of wisdom. She was editor of some magazines back when. Involved with the Key West Citizen these days. During our conversation, she referred to a Chinese proverb that she said fits today’s world: We live in interesting times. So true.
Erika likewise interesting. She works in Key West and Orlando. In Key West, she is involved with the Florida Keys Outreach Coalition and RCS Training. In Orlando, she is friends with Snow White and Pluto.
Erika spent some time in upstate New York. She has a Masters in Fine Arts from RIT. One of my daughters graduated from RIT.
Stopped at the Blue Macaw on the way home. An order of wings and a drink. Met Pamela and Kara. Kara prefers to be called Pixie. Relatively young ladies.
Both waitresses at Hogfish.
Pamela also owns together with her husband 2 income properties in Key West which she cares for. Yesterday, she painted a room in one of them. She showed me her nails. Somewhat of a mess because of the painting. She asked that I specifically mention the damage the painting had done to her nails. She was proud of the work she had performed.
I periodically mention alligators and crocodiles. They are slowly creeping into the lower Keys. One periodically shows up in the Key West area.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has issued a warning regarding alligators and crocodiles. Beware! Especially careful in and around water. Alligators and crocodiles are on the move this time of the year because of the increased heat of the water.
Trump moved too quickly again yesterday. Shot from the hip without first knowing all the facts.
A white group is protesting the black government of South Africa. Something to do with taking property without compensation.
The whites are a Neo-Nazi group. Racist Trump jumped on their bandwagon without knowing who they were. Other than whites complaining about blacks.
Rudi Giuliani is on vacation in Scotland. Perhaps at Trump’s golf resort. He was questioned about the possible impeachment of Trump. No way, he said. “The people would revolt.”
Giuliani lives in a different world these days.
The U.S. and China escalated the tariff war between the two countries yesterday. Into the billions. Talks broke down on resolving the issue.
I predicted months ago and continue to predict the tariff wars would lead to a major recession. Neither the U.S. nor China can afford this war. Blame Trump when the market crashes and the world is in economic turmoil. He started this tariff war thing.
Duncan Hunter is the California Congressman who together with his wife was charged with misuse of campaign funds. To the tune of $250,000. He threw his wife under the bus yesterday during arraignment. Turned around in open court and pointed at his wife saying it was her fault, she kept the books.
It is clearly against the law to use campaign founds for personal use. Hunter is not the only Congressperson doing it, however. Hunter is being selectively prosecuted. I say if you are going to get one, get them all.
Back in 1992, there was the House Banking Scandal. The House had its own bank. Members were allowed to overdraw their checking accounts. For extended periods. Without penalty. Free overdraft protection, in effect.
An investigation ensued. Four hundred fifty members involved. Twenty two overdrawn for up to 8 months. Several faced criminal charges and were convicted.
Hunter’s misuse of campaign funds bears familiarity with the House Bank problem in that many are doing it. Get them all! Investigate and prosecute.
Clean the swamp!
Enjoy your day!
