REPUBLICAN DEBATE

Last night’s Republican debate better than the first. Much better. Issues were discussed. Could have been discussed more. However, Trump kept getting in the way.

I consider Trump a buffoon. The man is not qualified to be President. It would scare me if he was. His lack of knowledge re issues was obvious. His high fi hand slapping childish.

Rubio impressed me with his foreign affairs knowledge. He was able to articulately convey it, also. Fiorina impressive. The woman is sharp. Bush was better. What we all expected from him in the first instance. Graham belongs with the big boys. First time he ever impressed me. Foreign affairs his issue. He knew his business.

The evening was too long. As much of a political junkie that I am, I got tired after a while. One problem was CNN’s work up to the first debate. I was on TV at 5 expecting the debate to begin. It did not till after 6. The debates are not a Super Bowl.

My screw off day yesterday was simple. The anti-gravity treadmill. The afternoon spent reading and napping. I read an excellent in depth article on Robert Redford. The name of the magazine escapes me. I also read for a while It’s Even Worse Than It Looks.

This morning’s Key West Citizen has a detailed article about the new Waterfront Brewery which is scheduled to open soon. A major undertaking. The rent the Brewery has to pay shocked me. Key West owns the property or controls its rent. The rent is roughly $614,000 a year. Fifty thousand a month! Got to sell a lot of beer!

Bocce tonight. We are scheduled to play Larry’s team. A money game.

Don’t know whether we will play. Rained all night. Very overcast at the moment. Weather report says scattered showers and thunderstorms all day.

I have an early haircut appointment this morning.

Enjoy your day!

  1. Why does the “City” own anything?

It’s a conflict of interest to have a interest in that brewery’s success.

Communism / Marxism / Socialism = owning the means of production.

    Argh!

The Gooferment is immoral, ineffective, and inefficient. And in this case, corrupt.

The “debate” was a staged school brawl at best. Only Rubio seemed to have a grasp on reality.

Yep. I thought Carly knocked it out of the park, as did Cristy. I too like Rubio but I also like Kasich for some unknown reason. Graham did a good job too. If there had been good moderation and questions with some thought put into them it could have much better, IMHO.

    • Carly is smart but I thought I saw an impetuous side to her I did not like. Kasich is a seasoned professional and certainly could govern efficiently if elected. Rubio though had thoughtful, intellectual points that shamed Trump for the latter’s total lack of “material” beyond insults, jabs and “I’ll hire the best people” platitudes. Rubio would be a great choice and a strong one for the Republican ticket at either position IMHO.

On the Democratic side, I feel Hillary is imploding and if Biden jumps in then that will get fun as well.

  3. Yep, again.
I just think Rubio is a bit too young and needs more experience, but, would back him if he ends up being the pick.

I have to remember back when Carly was with HP, I hate HP products.

I think Kasich has done a good job with Ohio and the years he spent in congress.

Christy has a tough time everyday trying to run his state so I have to give him a lot of credit.

Other candidates should have been given more time and all should have have had some decent questions presented to them.

I don’t see the Dems going anywhere. They need to come up with more than those 3, even though the 3rd hasn’t yet entered. I see obama backing Biden which should cause some fireworks. That should be entertaining.
