IT’S FIVE O’CLOCK SOMEWHERE

It’s five o’clock somewhere. Definitely in Key West this holiday weekend.

Jimmy Buffett time!

Jimmy found success in Key West. Magnified it world wide.

He died physically three years ago on September 1, 2023. However, he will live forever and ever more.

Key West is celebrating Jimmy big time this weekend. It all began yesterday. This is Key West’s slow time for visitors. This week hotel reservations were next to nothing. A perfect example the Ocean Key House. One of Key West’s largest and finest hotels. Reservations were 29 rooms per evening. Beginning yesterday, the hotel has 10o percent occupancy. Everyone wants to celebrate Jimmy Buffett time!

Music and singing will permeate Duval Street by day and night through Monday evening. And most assuredly, it will be “five o’clock” all day and night. Non stop fun!

Unfortunately, I remained in last night and will the rest of the weekend till Monday evening. My body can’t handle the crowd. Too many even for me to go out in a wheel chair.

Fran and Tom took me to lunch yesterday, however. Harpoon Harry’s. I have not been there in four years. One of the owners pissed me off big time and I stopped patronizing the place. I was pleased when I entered that two waitresses remembered me.

Fran and Tom will enjoy every aspect of Jimmy Buffett Days. Good people! They deserve it and know how to do it!

A mistrial was finally declared the the Clancy murder case after 7 days. The jury was declared deadlocked. Could not render a unanimous decision. One juror held out. Eleven were for acquittal.

The case will have to be retried or the defendant will be committed to a mental institution.

A difficult case to say what “justice” should have been.

The Medieval Period lasted 1,000 years from 500-1,500 CE.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: “When cruelty unfolds in front of us, will we accept the comfort of inaction?”

DeWitt Clinton was Mayor of New York, Governor of New York, a New York  Senator, and Presidential candidate. He ran against James Madison in 1812 and lost.

When Governor, Clinton focused his attention on connecting the Hudson River and Lake Erie with a canal.. An expanse of several hundred miles.

His position was unpopular. “DeWitt’s Ditch” and “Clinton’s folly.”

You never know! The canal became the “door” to what was considered the West at the time. Became big time popular!

Sears in Mexico has been alive and well for over 90 years. Not the same brand as the U.S. Sears that went bust many years ago. The Mexico Sears is owned by a Mexican billionaire and a Mexican entity.

Are we back in the 1930s? The world is becoming screwed up today as it was back then. I refer specifically to Germany at the moment. A far right political party known as the “Alternative for Germany” is gaining power. About to win a significant election. The Party is deep with neo-Nazi ties.

Gasoline is averaging $4.15 a gallon across the country. Diesel at $5.85 a gallon. Remember, Trump says worry not, it will go down!

Middle names go back to ancient Rome. Especially with the aristocracy. A middle name was referred to as “tria nomina.”

Middle name activity moved into Medieval Europe.

Still around today in Europe and the U.S. Ergo can be expected to continue forever.

The last name “Kennedy” is one of pride and distinction. Was not always so. It was considered to mean “ugly head.” It has made quite a journey to that of respectability.

Last week it was the right foot giving me trouble. This week the left. Big time pain with every step.

I have a call into Dr. Norris.

To those in Key West, enjoy the Buffett party time. Nothing could be better!

I will not be going out. Repeating myself from earlier, too many people to combat with a sore foot and cane.

Enjoy your day!
