TARIFF WAR WITH CHINA BAD FOR U.S.

Respectfully, most things started by Trump end up being disasters. The immigrant children the most recent. Soon to come, a tariff war with China.

If the war proceeds as presently described, a disaster for the U.S.

Nine States each exported more than $1 billion worth of tariff eligible goods to China in 2017. Five of the States red politically.

All nine States will take a big time beating.

By some time in 2019 (next year), unemployed will increase to 6 million. In 2020, unemployed will be at 8.6 percent.

If the numbers are correct, the U.S. will be plunged into a recession. The world will soon follow.

My yesterday, a lazy one. I did not feel that great. Did some research for next week’s KONK Life column, watched some TV, and napped. Did not go out last night.

The KONK column will be about sand. Sand, today. As with water, failing supplies. Sand has become gold.

Hard to believe. True, however.

BOB reported that in the 1990’s, a live mine was found floating in the Marquesas. The Marquesas a few miles west of the Keys. The mine was a model MK6 left over from World War II. Three feet in diameter and covered in barnacles.

During World War II, German U-boats were regularly in the waters off the Keys. The U.S. Navy set out 4,328 MK6 mines.

Following the War, 2,316 were accounted for.

BOB wanted to know what happened to the rest.

The mine discovered was live. The remaining 2,000 plus unaccounted for would still be alive, even today. There were no “off” switches after a period of time on mines then as there are today.

Again, BOB curious. What happened to the other 2,000 mines?

BOB also reported a Duval Street robbery. From an adult store. A full sized anatomically correct female blow up doll with a built in vibrator. Obviously, a straight guy.

This blog goes out over at least a dozen sites. One is WordPress. Comments are fiery. My blog provides many with a place to vent.

Puerto Rico and Hurricane Maria still discussed. Patrick against several others. The issue concerning help/no help for Puerto Rico to this day. I mentioned months ago Patrick was wrong. He persists in his position. Repeatedly gets knocked down.

Months after Maria and still arguing.

My undergrad school was Manhattan College. The Jasper Jottings blog recently shared a story how some present day Manhattan students did their small part in helping Puerto Rico.

Worthy of sharing with you.

A small group of engineering students and a professor went to Puerto Rico 3/9-3/12. To Colegio De La Salle in Anasco. A La Sallian grade school, kindergarten through 12th grade. With only intermittent power. Without clean water.

The students designed a Water and Solar Power Project. Cheap and easy to construct. The next step, someone has to build it. Puerto Ricans themselves or perhaps the students will return.

The purpose of the story. Puerto Rico still in desperate need of assistance. Even a little help is a lot. Helping hands required to fill in where Trump/the U.S. have failed our fellow citizens.

The confinement/detention centers for the immigrant children receiving continual discussion. One person recently said, “A prison is a prison is a prison, whether we want to call them nice euphemisms…..If people aren’t allowed to leave, then its imprisonment, and so we need to be clear about that.”

My concern about the babies grows with each passing day. Why no photos of them or visits to them? I pray this is not a further tragedy in the making.

A side point of interest. The CEO of the largest private non-profit caring for the children is paid $1.5 million a year.

Dinner with my lesbian wives Donna and Terri tonight at Hurricane Hole. I have not seen the ladies in two weeks. They are packing day and night preparatory to moving by the end of the month.

Enjoy your day!

  1. A world wide trade war will bring global chaos and ultimately the end of American economic dominance, perhaps even democracy. Starting a trade war is a naive solution to a complex problem. How can our government be so weak that a relative few can be so foolish that can effect so many.

  2. Perhaps “war” is, at times, necessary. I doubt we can avoid it with so much greed and pride present in human-kind. It is the wisdom of the few who keep it where it belongs….as a very last resort. Trump lacks wisdom and patience…..that is a dangerous combination.

    • It is possible there are some ‘trade war’ stories being developed by the Russians, but then again there doesn’t seem to be any need for them to do that, given the natural chatter. Besides, most Russian ‘stories’ are aimed at the ‘right wing media’ where they can get maximum exposure and repeats (echo). So far the RWM doesn’t seem to be talking much about this issue, so I doubt they are Russian destabilization efforts, at least not yet.

I was going to stay out of this, but. I spoke last night with one of my friends that have family in Puerto Rico. I also had coffee some time back with 4 local heavy electrical infrastructure fellas that went to spend a month last winter working on the island. I will persist in my position. Getting knocked down does not mean one is wrong. I will try to remain silent from now on and keep away from the arguments. We’ll see if this posts.

    • Of course it posted, probably because it didn’t contain any lies from you about what you’ve said in the past?

Apparently you don’t understand the meaning of persist. I stand behind what I’ve said even more so now since I’ve learned more. I haven’t lied in the past and won’t in the future. If you or anyone has chosen to cherry pick or take what was said out of context then I say its just typical of some people here.

        • Well, it SURE looks to me like you lied when you said that “its(sic) those that are corrupt and withheld the supplies and are continuing to sell them on the black market. I’ve said this, and, only this, all along” on your post of June 22, 2018 – Tim clearly shows that you had said MUCH more than that and on several different occasions he listed for October 2018 alone. Why are you still INSISTING you didn’t lie about that when the FACTs clearly show otherwise?

Once again, not understanding, cherry picking or both. I did talk about the corruption and withholding of supplies and its been conformed to me even more recently. I’ve also talked about the union truckers refusing to show up to work which is also true. The nonunion truckers were able to find their way to their trucks. The union workers were basically shamed into going back to work. Those are the people I spoke against. I also said the islands infrastructure was a mess before the storms, destroyed by the storms and it would take a decade for reconstruction. i said supplies and fuel were being taken to the hospitals shortly after the storms and most were in operation which was true. The official death toll from their government is still about 64 if I remember correctly, I ask why that hasn’t been changed. Maybe it doesn’t need to be or there hasn’t been time. Work is still going on despite the problems that I continue to to be told about. I would suggest anyone going down and finding out what is going on themselves. I think they would be surprised, maybe the wrong word, shocked may be more appropriate.

    • Dude, this doesn’t have anything do with what your finding out about anything. It’s about you lying (once again) about why you hate the Puerto Rican people. On Jan 22 you claimed you ONLY ever said you hated those PR people “that are corrupt and withheld the supplies and are continuing to sell them on the black market.” Tim VERY easily pointed out several of YOUR previous posts that clearly showed you said a lot more hateful and disparaging things about them then you were willing to own up to. That’s called lying Patrick, plain and simple.

Now you admit those posts, without any apology and want to change the subject by slinging more hate about dubious crap that can likely all be refuted. Even sticking to the shameful 64 death claim that’s been blown apart (at least you’ve moved on from the ridiculous 19 number you clung to for so long) and weird, widely denounced, Fox News ’strike’ BS, in the hopes you can divert everyone into talking about something different that your outright lies about why you hate these people.

FU Patrick, nobody wants to hear your personal problems with these suffering people. Get your own BLOG and spend your time in that well deserved purgatory of hate and loathing.

      • My turn to thank you Michael for once more trying to explain the obvious to Patrick. I can’t quite figure out that he’s either certifiably dense and just doesn’t get it, or he fiendishly demented and willing to risk any semblance of credibility by changing the subject and doubling down of peripheral BS. And his comments about the hospitals, totally beyond the pale! W O W! Maybe Lou is right in egging Patrick on. He’s just digging his own hole and showing his foolishness in a world of endless fact-checking.
