OUTLAWS IN ACTION

This past weekend the Poker Run. A Key West annual event. Ten thousand bikers roll into town. Everyone has a good time. Rarely a problem. Many of the bikers doctors, lawyers, and  CPA’s in disguise.

There was a bit of trouble this past weekend. The Outlaws came to town for Poker Run. I do not know if they were in Key West for the event in prior years.

Fifteen of them were at the Rumor Lounge on Greene Street. A fight began between the Outlaws and two men. 15-1. Then, 15-2. As soon as the police began arriving, the Outlaws were out the door hopping into cabs or running down the street.

No arrests were made.

The Outlaws are the original biker group formed in 1935. Logo, a small skull. The opening words of their motto, “God forgives.”

The Outlaws similar to the Marlon Brando bikers that roared into a small town in a long ago movie whose name I forget.

My blog talk radio show was last night. I spent the entire day preparing. I had let preparation slide.

Two things were hit big. Banks and police shooting blacks.

The people of the U.S. are disturbed by what they learned about Wells Fargo last week. Congress had a hearing yesterday. Wells Fargo’s CEO testified. Elizabeth Warren ripped him a new asshole. Only way to describe it. Warren is one tough cross-examiner.

Wells Fargo was fined $185 million for their wrongdoing. Plus, Wells Fargo paid the official who ran the bank unit involved a going away payout of $124.6 million when she retired in July.

I mentioned Wells Fargo briefly. It was not the thrust of my discussion. I brought Deutsche Bank to everyone’s attention. Our Department of Justice has recently fined Deutsche $14 billion for wrongdoing leading up to 2008.

Fourteen billion is a number to talk about!

The fine is negotiable. What bullshit! Fine them and let the number stand!

The U.S. has avoided jailing any banker for any significant wrongdoing. The too big to fail…..too big to prosecute thing. I disagree. Jail a few bankers and bank wrongdoing will become yesterday’s news.

Fine instead of prosecution is part of the bank/corporate America influence that permeates our government. The causes of the people set aside to accommodate the needs of the big guys.

Police shooting blacks. When does it stop? An unarmed 40 year old black pastor killed in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His arms over his head when shot.

Then yesterday, another shooting. In Charlotte, North Carolina. Another death. A question whether the deceased had a gun.

These shootings must stop! Both ways. Citizens should not be shooting police officers.

I do not know the solution.

October is National Bullying Protection Month. Tenth anniversary. Needed. Hopefully helpful.

Enjoy your day!

  1. The person shot in Charlotte was an armed black with a criminal record. He was told several times to drop the gun and failed to do so. He was shot by a black officer.

  2. The Charlotte suspect was carrying a gun. Told multiple times to put it down. Did not comply.

The Tulsa suspect told to stop and comply. Did not follow orders, kept walking, reached inside the vehicle.

Solution is quite simple. The majority of Americans know this…COMPLY with commands when stopped by law officer. Time for dispute is what the courts are for.

The problem with fining the rich CEOs is that their misdeeds and accompanying fines are a cost of doing business. The only way to get their attention and treat them equally such a a person who robs a store of $50 and gets 10 years in the pen is to take bank CEOs and jail them for decades in a penitentiary. Their nonsense would stop but quick.

  4. As to the Police shootings, the one in Tulsa looks like a problem given the near simultaneous taser shot and the female cop shooting seconds later. That is IF the vehicle’s window was really up as the family attorney (fascinating how these families immediately have legal counsel isn’t it) claims. If the window was down and the suspect was reaching in then a clean shoot in my book, if his hands were up all the time, I smell a large check. Probably a large check from the taxpayers either way.

Interestingly, the rather liberal leaning Washington Post reported today that there have been 702 fatal police shootings so far in 2016, 163 of black males. The vast majority killed are white males. Based on statistics of who commits crimes and against who, there really is no profiling by police, just very mean streets out there. A black victim is by far most likely to be murdered by a black assailant (fact) while black offenders attack whites and other blacks equally. 83% of the time white criminals target white victims.

But nobody wants to know the facts as they get in the way of the press coverage and the meme of oppression always caused by someone. Reality is that personal responsibility is long dead in a nation that permits crooked CEOS to be millionaires on yachts and looters are called heroes when they riot and commit arson and serious crimes just because there was an incident.

It appears no one is ready to admit the truth and probably never will as it exposes way to many warts and crap in our nation that diminishes are “exceptionalism” and the ability to rip-off the culture and future.

  5. I got a $100 plus failure to make complete stop at sign last night after leaving the village council meeting. I did not argue with local police. I did make a complete stop however because I was waiting to see what the car stopped across street was going to do. When that car put right turn signal on and started to turn, then I went forward. The local police officer came after me a block away. He said he had been watching in a dark corner the 4 way stop sign activity and that I had not made a complete stop. Attending that village council meeting in which I spoke during 3 minutes public comment was costly for me. Woe.

There are those that won’t pay attention or listen to facts. The Ferguson Effect has taken hold. After-al, how many times have we heard here that black lives matter and the heck with the white or blue ones.
All one has to do is comply.

  7. Bullying protection month. We need a month for that, huh. I can’t stand a bully, never could. I threw one down the stairs in junior high and got a few days off for doing it. The bullying stopped in that school after that though. We’re just not allowed to do what works, couldn’t then and certainly not today.

  8. About your bully post, Patrick, that is very interesting. I think, though do not know for sure, that my conch retired lobster fisherman bae (millennial lingo for boyfriend) was a bully at Harris Elem School in the 50s. A local KW lady told me that he always chased her younger terrified brothers all over what we now call Old Town. In the 50s that area was not called Old Town. Who knows what it was called then?

I’m inclined to think there is a point in your response, but,,,,,,,????

  10. I’m wondering why there is no outcry and protests over the recent death of the black woman that was shot 7 times.
OH, I know, its because she was a LEO.
