I DON’T GET NO RESPECT

He who seeks respect must show respect.

So I have always believed.

Recent days have evidenced multiple occasions where Trump has received “no respect.” Washington State an example.

Protesters remain alive and well in Washington. In fact, they have taken over an area of Seattle. Provided Law and Order Donald to exhibit his bravado once again. Trump tweeted this is not a game, threatened to “take back” Seattle as protesters set up an autonomous zone.

First friendly confrontation between protesters and police. Then the police withdrew. First however boarding the Police Department’s East Precinct. Protesters renamed the area Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone. Short CHAZ.

Trump tweeted: “Domestic terrorists taken over Seattle, run by Radical Left Democrats.”

Trump further tweeted: “Take back your city NOW. If you don’t do it, I will. This is not a game. These ugly anarchists must be stopped IMMEDIATELY. MOVE FAST!”

Washington governmental leaders are not quivering in fear.

Governor Inslee responded: “A man who is totally incapable of governing should stay out of Washington’s business.”

Mayor Durkan: “Make us all safe. Go back to your bunker.”

When is the last time a Governor and Mayor spoke so disparagingly in responding to a President’s comments?

Donald, it is the way of the world. You get what you give.

Which brings me to Rodney Dangerfield. A well received comedian who saw his best days professionally in the 1970s and 1980s.

Dangerfield’s famous line was “I don’t get no respect.” Followed sometimes by “It’s not easy being me.”

A bit of resemblance exists between Dangerfield and Trump. Dangerfield would have had to do 2 things to look like Trump.

Close his eyes a bit. He walked around with them intentionally opened wide.

The other is hair. Dangerfield had receding temples.  He would first have had to color his hair yellow, blow dry after washing, then comb it as Donald does, and then spray the hell out of it.

They could have been brothers.

Trump says he never drank nor did drugs. I believe him. He did have sex however. Common knowledge.

Dangerfield wrote his autobiography in 2004″ It’s Not Easy Bein’ Me: A Lifetime of No Respect But Plenty of Sex And Drugs.” Delete the last 2 words of the title so it reads: “It’s Not Easy Bein’ Me: A Lifetime of No Respect But Plenty of Sex.”

I knew Dangerfield briefly.

Back in the ’70s and ’80s I used to go to La Costa to lose weight. A “fat farm” outside San Diego. That is where I became friendly with William Holden.

Dangerfield spent a week while Holden and I were there. The three of us bonded. We spent our evenings sitting in La Costa’s dim and empty bar smoking cigars and drinking Perrier.

Both men gentlemen. Respectful. Persons of character.

Another person who gives as good as she gets, if not better, is Washington D.C.’s Mayor Bowser.

Her having 2 blocks in front of the White House painted in 50 foot yellow letters BLACK LIVES MATTER was an up yours move. Disrespect at its zenith.

What you give is what you get!

Enjoy your day!

  1. Growing up, I can remember my father always saying, “respect can ONLY be earned, it’s the one thing that can’t be bought”

  2. Trump does not want cov rules to apply at his rallies.
But, according to his rules, you can’t sue him if you catch it there.

  3. In Vegas, Rodney got plenty of respect.

I went to see him at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Tickets to see him were the most expensive of any venue in town. They were worth it. It was a lot of years ago now, but I think my belly is still hurting from how hard I laughed. Of course, on stage in Vegas, he could do “bits” he couldn’t do on TV.

“I get no respect. The way my luck is running, if I was a politician I would be honest.”

    Thank you Rodney,

    Kokomo Man

    • The interesting thing about Rodney Dangerfield is what you saw is what you got. The man on the stage was the same as the man in real life. He became a success by being himself. Another thing stood out. He dressed the same in real life as he did when acting. The oh so bad collars, etc.

  4. Hi Louis. What’s your opinion on the border wall built around CHAZ? And the heavily armed leftist militia patrolling its border walls?

    • Those partitions around those blocked off streets were with the help and approval of the city and the armed guards are infrequent and thought to be local open carry right wing militia thugs looking for trouble. re: Seattle Times

      • Tell that to Raz Simone, the warlord of CHAZ. I guess he didn’t read the times article. He’ll be surprised to know he’s a “right wing militia thug”.

        • Raz Simone is a Rap Artist and is actually accused of “declaring himself a warlord” according to the NY Post and (so far) a few other ‘sleaze’ rags, like “Infowars” and “RealClearPolitics.” Raz is hardly any kind of ‘Antifa’ operator, or even “leftist milita” as you had claimed.

He carries weapons like a lot of the right wing thugs, but then Seattle is an open carry site and a magnet for anyone to do so. Especially the Hells Angels who have descended on the area.

“Raz Simone, has urged other ‘armed protesters’ to protect the area.” Re: NY Post.

  5. Still waiting for BLACK LIVES MATTER to be painted on the streets of Chicago’s south and west sides. The many black lives lost due to homicide don’t seem to matter there.

    • Already Happened – Snowflake !

Done while Chicago Police were filmed lounging and sleeping inside Bobby Rush’s congressional campaign office during looting next door.

Thanks for your concern and attempts to calm things down, you stupid troll !

  6. I believe Rodney can give us some insight into why Trump is the hot mess he is. All to do with his silver spoon childhood:

“With my old man I got no respect. I asked him, ‘How can I get my kite in the air?’ He told me to run off a cliff.”

  7. I wonder if Trump understands what the Civil War was all about, what the South was fighting for, what those Rebel generals with the statues were trying to keep going? They were all a bunch of traitors who were dealt with in the end.

    • I doubt Trump gives two sh*ts about the Civil War or anything in the South apart for what it/they can do for him NOW, at least so far as getting him reelected and his whole scam afloat and ongoing.

  8. Those Civil War generals were fighting for the right of one human being to keep another human being for a pet.

  9. Tom Friedman’s NYTimes piece today, “This Should Be Biden’s Bumper Sticker,” prompts my note. It invites an ironic glance at Dangerfield’s line. It might as well be Trump’s. I chanced on your post with that thought in mind. Since you had it first, why not suggest Friedman see it. Reinhold Niebuhr’s “Irony in American History” needs an updating, Florida-to-Manhattan style. Just a thought.
