46 YEARS SUCKING ON PUBLIC TIT

Me thinks Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) has been a public official too long. His employment/job for 46 years has been as a publicly elected official. He has sucked on the public tit too long.

He should get a real job and work for a living as most Americans do.

He has been a U. S. Senator 36 of the 46 years. He draws salary, medical coverage, etc. from tax dollars. Our tax dollars.

The Senate tax bill has a provision re the estate death tax. It removes the tax. Grassley had a comment regarding the deletion of the estate tax. He said it recognized those who invest and not those “…..spending every darn penny on booze or women or movies.”

What century does this man come from? How can he insult 95 percent of Americans? The people who have been paying his salary for almost a half century.

He is from another time.

Another government official I have problems with is President Trump. His Twitters the  cause of a multitude of problems. The man insults and demeans.

Yesterday, the FBI. “In tatters,” he says. The “worst in history.”

Former Attorney General Eric Holder in a responsive Tweet stated integrity and honesty exist at FBI headquarters and not 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

One of Christmas’ most popular and enjoyable musical presentations is Handel’s Messiah. At 82, I am ashamed to say last night was the first time I had seen it performed.

The Key West United Methodist Church has been featuring Handel’s Messiah for 35 years. I was there last night. After hearing it, disappointed I had not many years earlier and every Christmas season thereafter.

The Messiah is an oratorio. I did not know what an oratorio was. Had to look it up this morning. An oratorio is a large musical composition for orchestra, choir and soloists. A concert piece. Little or no interaction between characters. No props or elaborate costumes.

The choir last night consisted of approximately 75 persons.

Handel composed the Messiah in London in 1741. In only three weeks. Three weeks becoming a Christmas event for the ages.

Enjoyed the Messiah with Lynda and Bob Frechette. Friend Liz sitting on the other side of the Church. I did not get to speak with her.

I missed the Christmas Parade saturday night. From everyone I have spoken to, the Parade its usual success. Perhaps the best ever.

Stock Island has been the poor relative of Key West for years. No more. Stock Island is on the move! No one would ever think of building a hotel on Stock Island. Now, two new ones. Each magnificent. Art galleries. Tons of eateries. Old Key West types. The food reasonably priced and good.

The merchants have gotten together. They are letting the world know what they have created.

This weekend the first I Love Stock Island Festival. Including Stock Island’s own Lighted Boat Parade.  A family fun weekend.

For those familiar with Stock Island, don’t think the whole island has been transformed. It is still shrimp boats, boats in general, bad roads, run down trailers, etc. The new world found here and there.

Key West Police have a motorcycle and scooter safety week planned. Too many cycle and scooter accidents. Break the law and you will be stopped. Perhaps even ticketed. Time from my perspective for cycle and scooter operators to follow the rules of the road the same as motor vehicles operators.

Next the Police should have a bicycle week. I cannot remember the last time I have seen a bicycle operator stop for a light or stop sign.

This is the 25th year for texting. Amazing! Texting has been around that long and I only learned how to use it this year. Generational. My thumb and fingers not nimble enough. I could not figure where to text on my cell phone.

I’ve got it now, however!

On my Irma escape, I learned I needed new glasses. Could not see signs till I was upon them. Night driving a disaster. I get my new glasses this morning. Excited! Confident I will see better!

Consider giving Irma and Me as a Christmas gift. Available of Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and KoboBooks.

Enjoy your day!

  1. Why just pick on one politician or bureaucrat? They all are the same ilk.

Power corrupts as we’ve been told often.

Politicians are like diapers as the bumper sticker says.

  2. Yep, he just mentioned one. I believe most are alike. There has been not much mentioned about the recent woes of Florida Congresswoman Brown.

    • Patrick – The reason you probably haven’t heard much about Congressman Corine Brown, is that she was only convicted of any crime this morning and prior to that she was innocent of any crime, at least if you apple the same standards to her as YOU do to Judge Moore of Alabama, right?

  3. Probably all fake news about John Conyers, after all his crimes were reported on CNN and in the New York Times (sarcasm Patrick).

  4. Ya, well, Fox is also reporting about Conyers and the allegations against him. Maybe the Times and CNN have finally got something right. [ sarcasm Michael]

Its also interesting that its being reported about Pelosi’s waffling on the subject and also that Conyers paid off an ‘accuser’ several years ago with taxpayer dollars.

    • Patrick – So, you are willing to go after unconvicted Conyers, yet defend likewise accused (but also unconvicted) Moore? Even though in Moore’s case the accusers are all about pedophillia and mostly preemptive in nature (keeping him from government, rather than having to expel him for being accused)? Something isn’t right about you Patrick. And before you go get in your usual high and mighty “change the subject” huff and puff – yes, this does play to judging YOUR character poorly and false assassination it is not.

Oh, and by the way,I think, as a matter of equal fairness, you need to still use the term “allegedly” with references to Conyers crimes, as long as you wish to similarly defend others as to preconvicted guilt.

And then you want to go against Pelosi about waffling, without mentioning what others in higher places than she are doing with your beloved friend (and twice suspended) Judge Moore?

      Shame on you.

  5. John Conyers, Democrat Michigan, has announced he will NOT run for reelection following additional allegations of sexual predacity.

After agreeing to a monetary settlement for sexual harassment (using tax payer money, no less) Conyers will be leaving congress after nearly 53 years.

So Lou, we’ve finally gotten rid of one of those “publicly elected officials that have sucked on the public tit for too long.” Maybe Conyers will “get a real job and work for a living like most Americans do.” After all he’s been a congressman for 53 years “drawing salary, medical coverage, etc. from tax dollars. Our tax dollars (not to mention settling sexual harassment/predation cases with out tax dollars).

A win for the American people!

  6. Not only am I willing to go after Conyers for using taxpayer monies for payoff, I would expect it. I don’t believe there are any ‘allegedly’ allegations there, that was pretty well proven.

I would also think that such a payoff is an admission of guilt. It would surely be used in any prosecution.

Your good Congresswoman Brown was convicted 5 or 6 months ago. She was recently sentenced.

Once again when a good argument can’t be made the loser just reverts to character assassination. Its a famous lawyer trick that doesn’t work.

  7. Patrick – Actions speak louder than words. Your hypocrisy and double standards on this and other issues, when it suits you or your frequent one sided arguments DOES play to your personal character, as does your diversionary tantrums about character assassinations.

Conyers deserves everything he gets, but that’s besides the point. We are talking about your lack of fairness and blatant hypocrisy.

Do you even know what a good argument is? It starts with staying on subject!

Staying on subject, I would suggest you look in the mirror.

You just can’t handle differing opinions, its that simple.

    • Patrick – dismissive Clichés are the work of a lazy mind, so don’t over reach – it’s embarrassing and unbecoming.

I do support differing opinions. It is just that an opinion that is genuinely false or intentionally misleading, needs comment and rebuttal, even if you feel your own opinions are above all of that and shouldn’t be challenged.

Just because you believe something, doesn’t make it right, nor in necessarily put it beyond criticism or challenge. Defending a Pedophile, in the way you have done with Judge Moore, is not generally acceptable behavior and at the very least invites questions about your person. Better you should have just simply kept your mouth shut.

  9. Correction: John Conyers, Democrat from Michigan will Retire Immediately, not at the end of his current term.

He will therefore not reach the 53 year mark. After having groped a woman in church, yes, in church during service, he has graciously decided to step down. He has endorsed his son to take his throne. Undoubtedly another women’s rights warrior.

    Good riddance.

    • Kind of an unnecessary and gratuitous post, don’t you think, considering no one here is championing or defending John Conyers!

  10. Just because you believe something, doesn’t make it right, nor in necessarily put it beyond criticism or challenge

As said many times, all you need do is just look in the mirror. You too can’t keep your mouth shut.
