I am back in Key West! And very shortly this morning I will be playing golf! All good!
I left upstate New York yesterday morning when the temperature was in the low 30s. I arrived in Key West last night when the temperature was in the high 70s. What a difference a day makes!
Flying continues to be interesting. People are not flying. Neither for business nor pleasure.
I went through Newark. A third of the people than normal.
My big plane from Newark was at least a third empty also. The center seats on both sides of the aisle were not occupied.
There are also fewer planes flying. I had an almost 3 hour lay over in Fort Lauderdale because an earlier flight is no longer scheduled.
I recall after 9/11 that the planes and airports were empty. There were few planes even sitting at airports. Almost the same now. Not quite. But getting there.
There was a gentleman seated next to me on the last flight into Key West. The small plane. We landed after sunset. The plane came straight in. He looked out the window, turned around and said to me that he felt like he had landed in Casablanca. I told him a French captain of police would meet him at the gate. Claude Raines, he asked.
I had a quiet dinner at the bar at La Trattoria. It was good to be back in comfortable haunts again!
