We did it! Made the bocce playoffs! First time ever for our team!

We ended the season in third place all alone.

Won 2 out of 3 games last night. It was a struggle. We played the last place team. It was supposed to be an easy night for us. The opposing team had only won 6 games all season.

They came to play! We almost got killed all three games!

Each game was close. Too close. Our opponents played extremely well. They did not look like last place finishers at all.

They were out to beat us! And almost did! Their motivation was to keep us out of the playoffs.

I only played the first game. Terrible does no adequately describe my play. I was a weight around the team’s neck. Played so poorly that Michelle at one point brought me a drink and said you need some boob inspirationn. She buried my fasce between her breasts.

It was good. Every one laughed. But…..no help!

I was benched after game one, which we lost. Never got to play again. The team won the next two games.

Playoffs Saturday and Sunday. At some time tomorrow, we the #3 Thursday night team will play th #2 Monday night team.

During the day, I worked on today’s internet show. The Key West Lou Legal Hour. 10 am. http://www.konkbroadcasting.com/. Join me for the serious and light. Interesting topics galore.

Jenna came over at 3 to help me fine tune the show. She is my producer.

Barbara and Jenna came to watch bocce last night. Jenna’s first time.

Instead of going to Don’s Place after bocce, Barbara and I went to Town ‘n Tavern at the Marriott to get something to eat. We sat at the bar. Rob bartending again. A nice guy. Watched the second half of the Miami game. The result hurt!

Again, a crowd at the bar. Locals and tourists. The place was jumping!

Met some nice people. Roy and Peggy Hester from the New Smyrna area. They are in Key West for a long weekend. Roy is an attorney. He is with Planned Furniture Promotions. His company takes over the furniture and product of a business going under and sell it to benefit creditors in most instances. Wife Peggy is in property management.

Peggy’s first time in Key West. Roy has been here before. I suggested they hit the Chart Room tonight and then go across the street to Hot Tin Roof for dinner.

I plan an easy day after the show. Probably a quiet dinner tonight. Need to rest up for the bocce playoffs tomorrow!

As Porky Pig of old would say…..That’s all folks!

Enjoy your day!

I was supposed to be doing a nuclear stress test at this moment. Late yesterday, the doctor’s office called and cancelled it to next week. So what was intended to me a quiet evening, turned into a blast. I partied!

Lets take the day in sequence.

Golf yesterday morning. Fun! Played with Tom and Yankee Jack. Tom’s last day. He is off to his home on the Jersey shore tomorrow for the summer. A tough life!

Yankee was the big winner! Big big! He won 7 holes all at once in our skins game. I was happy for him. He has been playing poorly of late. The winner buys drinks. Yankee was so thrilled, he bought burgers and hot dogs also.

I lost $3. Tom, the best player in the group, took a beating. He was the big loser.

The humidity is getting heavy. I was tired. I laid in bed all afternoon recovering from the golf.

Last night I was going to take it easy. Stress test this morning. Since it was cancelled, I went out! No sense in wasting a good evening.

Wednesday is Bobby Nesbitt time at Aqua. I enjoy his singing. Aqua was my first stop. Not many people. The season is over. The snowbirds have left.

Then to Island Hot Dog.

It was Nancy’s 60th birthday. A group from Don’s Place were taking her out on the town. They had started at Island Hot Dog.  Nancy’s son in law owns it. The name of the place is not representative of the charm and quality of the establishment. It is first class!

I caught up with everyone as they were leaving the Dog . About a dozen people. The partying mood was already upon them.

We headed over to Rum Barrel for dinner. Sat upstairs outside. I was blessed with having Don sitting next to me. He was a bit inebriated. Repetitive. Everyone was glad he was my dinner companion.

A terrific party! Love Nancy. Happy birthday wonderful woman!

We were there a long time. I finally left, set my new car on “home finder” and away I went!

Several persons have asked how the lady locked in the bathroom was discovered at Hogfish. Easy. My luncheon companion Barbara. Barbara had to pee. When first she tried the door, it was locked. She sat for 15 minutes squirming and telling me she had to go. She had her eyes on the ladies room door all that time. She finally said something is wrong. She went back to the door. It was she who heard the shouts for help! My luncheon companion was the heroine of the day!

Bocce tonight.

This is the big evening! I thought we had two more weeks to play. Then the playoffs, if we ended up in the top 4.

Turns out I had it screwed up. Tonight is the last evening of league play. The playoffs are this weeked.

We are presently in third place alone. If we win 2 games this evening, we will be rolling in the first round of the playoffs Saturday. If we do not, I am not sure what will happen. There are presently several teams tied in fourth place.

We are playing the last ranked team this evening. A decided advantage. But you never know! Tonight I will know. Tomorrow you will know.

This Congressman Weiner thing is a pain. I wish the media would get off of it. He screwed up! But note carfefully, screw he did not. Internet sex is a non contact sport.

I think sexual computer interaction personifies a change in our culture. It appears to be the social mores of our time. Society promotes safe sex. What could be safer from a physical stand point than internet sexual relationships.

Before any one goes off half cocked, I agree that the situation is immoral and dishonest to one’s spouse/partner. No question.

TV comedians are having a field day. We all agree we are in the midst of a great economic crisis. Some one said last night that the Congressman’s internet activities had helped to reduce unemployment. They have been a big boost to the penis pun industries.

Tomorrow morning at 10 the Key West Lou Legal Hour. http://www.konkbroadcasting.com/. Join me.

I am not even going to review with you this morning what I shall be talking about. The world is getting crazier and crazier. Material is overwhelming. A terrific pick and choose situation for me.

One example, and the only one I shall share with you, is Congressman Weiner and his weiner. He is a perfect example of what Forrest Gump was referring to when he said…..Stupid is, as stupid does.

Enjoy your day!

Ally’s graduation yesterday morning was touching.

She looked magnificent! Beautiful! Proud! Dignified!

My granddaughter!

It was her day and she knew it.

My eyes did fill a bit. I knew they would. There is an old Swedish proverb. Goes something like…..Eyes that do not cry, do not see. I saw yesterday.

Ally stayed at school afterward. Wanted to be with her friends. Already.

I went to the Coffee House to read the New York papers. Then to Hogfish for lunch.

An interesting occurrence at Hogfish. Crys of help! From where? Turned out to be the ladies room. A woman had somehow locked herself in.

I was browsing through the local papers while lunching. Saw an article on a used clothing/furniture warehouse. A non-profit. Having nothing better to do, I visited it.

It was located on 5th Avenue. Not New York City’s 5th Ave. Stock Island’s!

It was on a part of 5th Ave I had never visited before. Found it easily. Parked my new beetle convertible outside and entered.

A big place. Lots of everything used. Many people mulling around. I was particularly taken with the tee shirts. Good ones! $1 a piece. However, I could not buy any. Used clothes I am not ready for! Hopefully, never.

As I was leaving, some lady ran out to talk with me. The bettle was the attraction. Not Louis.

You will recall I mentioned a couple of days ago that there is another new beetle convertible exactly like mine in Key West. Same color, same everything. This lady’s girl friend owns it. She wanted to tell me. I told her I already knew. We chatted a bit. The girl friend’s last name is Eaton. We will hook up at some time, I am sure. Perhaps we can drag race.

Dinner was a celebration of Ally’s graduation. Ally picked the place. Matthesson’s. Her call. We dined on burgers, fish sandwiches and ice cream.

Afterwards, I was off to Don’s Place. Jules and Jimmy were here visiting from New Orleans. They have become successful barkeeps in New Orleans in their own right!

They are here for Nancy’s birthday today. The celebration is tonight. The partying starts at the Dog House (Nancy’s son in law’s place) at 6. Then a bit of a Duval crawl, ending up at the Rum Barrel. I want to join them. Probably will not. It will be too much partying for me. I have a stress test tomorrow morning at 9.

Everyone was at Don’s Place to greet Jules and Jim. Don, Steph, Keith, Jennifer, Boomer, Todd, Nancy, Toni, and more.

I left before 9. I wanted to watch the Miami/Dallas game from bed. A mistake again! I fell asleep during the third quarter. I did not know who won till I woke this morning. Plus, I missed a terrific final minute again!

Golf this morning. What could be better!

The weather has been screwy the past six months. Worldwide. Even Key West. Here the weather has been unusually good. Spectacular!

Big time snow, tornados and floods everywhere.

And now news this morning of the strangest event weatherwise yet this year. It snowed in Hawaii yesterday!

Enjoy your day!

This is a day of days! One that will live in memory!

Ally graduates from kindergarten this morning!

I just spoke with her. She is all excited!

While walking the streets of Key West a few weeks ago, I saw a dress I thought might look pretty on Ally for graduation. I bought it. Cost me all of $10. It will probably fall apart after one wearing. But…..Ally was excited to receive it. Lisa was excited, also. A sun dress. All kinds of bright flowers on a white background.

Lisa told me Ally explained the importance of this morning to Corey last night. She insisted he dress for this morning! A pink shirt and tie. Long pants. And shave!

I am taking her and the family out to a late breakfast or early lunch after the ceremony.

Yesterday was spent researching and writing. Last night, I went out.

Dinner was at the bar at Outbacks. Then the movies. Hangover, Part II. Very funny. I recommend you see it. That is, if you are not one of the 137 million plus who already have.

It was late. Publix was still open. The cupboard was bare. I did a bit of late night shopping. Glad I did. I ran into Ava.

Ava was my nephew Jimmy’s first wife. They have been divorced for years. She and Jimmy have a daughter, Brianna. You will recall I mentioned her recently.

I was at Jennifer’s college graduation. Brianna was graduating, also. I did not recognize her. It was at least ten years since I saw either Brianna or her mother. I went up and said hello and congratulations after the ceremony.

Ava asked me last night for my phone number. She said Brianna wanted to talk with me, get to know me, etc. I was delighted! I wanted to get to know Brianna, also. I told Ava that. Louis and his grand neice will soon be chatting.

It was only 10 o’clock. Too early to go home. However, I had ice cream in the trunk.

I decided to go to the bar at the Marriott. It was on the way home and I assumed the ice cream would survive. The last time I was there was three years ago when it opened. A beautiful place. But dead!

Not last night. Jumping! Locals and tourists. I knew several people. Had a few drinks and an order of fried calamari.

Enough for this morning. I have to get ready for graduation. It will be cute. It will be fun. I am sure my eyes will water up a bit.

Enjoy your day!

It is close to 7:30 this morning.

I am sitting outside doing the blog. About 80 degrees. Does not feel it. A cool breeze blowing in off the ocean.

Yesterday was a relatively quiet Sunday. I did next to nothing.

Spent the day home reading, watching TV and sleeping. Lisa and the grandkids showed up at some point to swim. Robert and Ally woke me. I stayed in bed. They returned after their swim to say good bye.

The Chart Room was my first stop last night. Stayed a while.

Emily bartending. A charming personality.

Met a terrific couple from Brooklyn. Jayson Green and Emma Kaydar-Penner. I may not have spelled Emma’s last name correctly. It was that kind of evening.

Jayson is a comedian. A for real one. Earns his living as one. He can be found on the internet at LCDSoundsystem.com. His show is called Oh My Blog!

Emma is a fashion historian. I received a bit of an education last night.

A young lady appeared. Lovely. Mid 30s. Her name escapes me. An interesting person. Works in a major Tampa hospital as a charge nurse. She was gay. A bit reluctant to talk with me at first. I was anxious to share the Donna/Terri story with her. We finally got on the same wave length.

I had planned on grabbing a bite on the deck at the Pier House. But it was 8 o’clock and I wanted to watch the Miami/Dallas game at Don’s Place.

I caught the first half at Don’s Place. Chatted with Robert and Kurt. Robert had a pizza delivered. My dinner. Two slices.

A good game, good company and good food!

I left at half time. My plan was to watch the rest of the game from the comfort of my bed.

The bed was too comfortable! I fell asleep as soon as I hit the pillow. I had to check the internet this morning to learn that Miami had won by two points.

It is impossible to accurately describe the beauty of what I see as I sit here. The colors alone are mind boggling. And it is all here every day for me to see.

God is good!

Enjoy your day!

This Volkswagen beetle convertible is causing a furor of sorts. Mostly favorable. Like winning the lottery. The big question is “Who?” Only four persons know. The giver, three others. The identity is something best not publizied.

Driving around yesterday, I was lucky I did not have an accident! Shouts of hi and hello from all over. Many with a thumbs up.

The car has unique coloring. It is two tone. For real. I appreciate it is small, but two tone it is. A light blue and white. Turns out someone else in Key West has the identical car.

I received two calls yesterday. Were your at the movies at Sears? No. Why? Your car was in the parking lot.

The other was much the same. This time Walgreens. Saw you! No, you did not. I was not at Walgreens at all yersterday.

I had a one o’clock appointment at Lee Nails for a manicure. The place was packed! Saturday is obviously not the time to go. Working women only have time on Saturday. On the other hand, I was busy all week and had no time to go either.

Maybe I am a working woman in disguise. Ho ho! I feel good this morning!

Erin was at Lee Nails. My bartender friend from La Trattoria. Yesterday was her anniversary and she was getting all dolled up. She looked terrific! Especially her long blonde hair.

Erin was there with her mother. Cheri Smith. Another lovely! It obviously runs in the family. Cheri is Key West City Clerk.

Greer was getting done up, also. I have not seen Greer in a while. She is one of Lisa’s long time Key West friends. Works at Casa Marina in management. She has been there 13 years. I have known Greer since before she went to work at the Casa.

Greer’s parents are Woody and Joan Cornell. A better couple you cannot find.

Woody and Joan met while Woody was stationed in England during World War II. Joan became a war bride. Love her accent!

Woody is unique unto himself. Wears saber type earrings. All the time! His shoes are Dutch in style. Wood. History’s croc.

Woody never wears a jacket. Rarely long pants. One night we ran into each other at the Symphony. Out of respect for the event, I was wearing long pants and a blazer. Woody went crazy!

I spent part of yesterday babysitting. Lisa and Corey wanted to go out. They did an early movie. Around 4 in the afternoon. Hangover II. Then dinner. They enjoyed the movie. Corey said he was laughing so much, he was actually crying. The movie takes place in Thailand. After dinner, Lisa and Corey had dinner on the Thai boat that sits in the water off the boulevard. Neither had been there before. They wanted to continue the movie experience. Both said the food was outstanding.

So it was me and the grandkids!

We started with a couple of hours in the pool. I am old! Too much for me. Really tired me out. But no rest for me. I was the babysitter.

We decided on Hogfish for dinner. We drove over in the new convertible. Robert and Ally had never ridden in one before. I put the top down, their car seats in, and off we went!

They loved it! Shouts of joy!

Hogfish had a guitar player singing. Robert and Ally were fixated upon him. Both have toyed around a bit with Cameron’s guitar.

Ally’s birthday was last week. One of her gifts from a young lady friend was a purse with contents. The contents included a driver’s license and a credit card. Ally proudly showed them to me before we left home.

When the bill came, I had Ally pay with her credit card. It is not for real, of course. A Barbie credit card. The waitress cooperated. I even had Ally print her name on the bill. An educational experience.

Then I took them home.

It was still early enough to be a bit of a Louis Saturday night.

I started at the Chart Room. Emily bartending. Where was Michael?

Emily is a loyal blog reader. Who gave you the car, she wanted to know.

Afterwards, I went to Don’s Place. Michelle was there. I like Michelle. A good person. Kurt was bartending.  We chatted a bit. The proposed golf trip the topic.

The guys want to do a golf trip. Larry is putting it together. Not easy to do. He has his hands full.

First, it was going to be four of us. The four grew to eight. Now twelve. Some want to reduce it to eight. Fort Myers is the location. We were going to take the ferry. A four hour trip. Now some want to drive. Do we rent a house? Some prefer a motel. I am beginning to wonder whether this trip will hold together!

All of a sudden, I tired. Really tired. Kids are tiring. The pool knocked me out. Even more, when you babysit you have to be conscious of the little ones all the time. It is pleasure and work combined.

So I was off to home and an early bed.

Today. What? I don’t know. Whatever.

I hope to do the Gardens at cocktail time. It has been a while. I would like to follow the Gardens with dinner at the bar at La Trattoria. Charming Kathy will be bartending. I can use a little Becha, also.

The Miami/Dallas game is at 8. I want to watch the game.

Too many things in the same time frame.

We shall see how the day develops. I take it as it comes. That is how I live these days.

Enjoy your Sunday!

I had a strange experience this week. Sufficiently strange, then I did not know how to share it.

I have been speaking the past several months of getting a Volkswagen beetle convertible. I enjoy my 24 year old Mercedes. But if you live in Key West, there is nothing like a convertinble!

Volkswagen stopped making the beetle convertible in 2010. There are still a few new ones out there for sale. But expensive. Require a premium payment. I have been looking for a 2-3 year old one. In fact, I was on Facebook the other evening for two hours searching and pricing used and new beetle convertibles.

The other afternoon, I was working on the computer when the telephone rang. It was a friend. The friend said…..I am in your driveway and need some help. Out I went. There was the friend and a brand new Volkswagen beetle convertible.

Magnificent, I said. I have been looking for one.

My friend handed me the keys. It is yours.

You’re kidding, I said. No, the friend responded. You have been talking for months about getting one. I came across this one. Thought you might like it. Bought it for you.

I cannot take it, I said. Too expensive. You’re crazy. No way!

The friend again handed me the keys. Together with the paperwork. The car is yours. Take me for a ride.

A shock! Someone bought Louis a new car! And…..the specific car that had been his desire.

I am 75 years old. No one ever bought me a new or used car in my lifetime. But, I bought tons of new cars for my wife, children and employees. As well as myself.

Now some one was good enough to buy me one. Some one who had no responsibility to do so. Some one who just wanted to do a nice thing. A gesture. You’re a good guy Louis and I want to do this for you.

Normally, I would say…..only in America! But in this instance…..only in Key West!

Look for me as I drive about. The convertible is blue and white.

Enjoy your day! May you be blessed as I was this week!

Good morning! Good morning! Good mornnig!

I feel good this morning!

Big evening last night! Bocce!

We won all three games. Wowie! They were important. We would have been happy with two victories. The three wins should solidify our third place position in the rankings. Only two weeks in the season left. If we end the season in the top four, we will make the playoffs. It would be a first time event for our team.

We also had a side bet with the other team last night. We made some money.

For whatever reason, Don had a cookout grill brought to the bocce court. Brockwurst! I tre two. Good!

Then to Don’s Place to celebrate the victory. Even if we had lost, it would have been to Don’s Place.

On the way home, I did a bad thing. Stopped at Bare Assets. A strip club/gentlemen’s club. It has been at least a year since I was there.

Many women, few men. The women in various states of undress. I watched three ladies pole dance while enjoying a drink. Young and beautiful. Then home.

Earlier in the day, I prepared for this morning’s internet show. The Key West Lou Legal Hour. 10 am. http://www.konkbroadcasting.com/. Worked with and without Jenna. I am ready for the show! Join me!

Have to hustle now to prepare Louis for the show. This is a must shave morning. Probably the only day in the week that I do shave. I am required to pretty up for the camera.

Enjoy your day!

It is the middle of the night. I woke and could not return to sleep.

Golf yesterday morning. Played so so. Don was the big winner. I  won $6.  Yankee Jack took a beating. Lost $22.

But…..it was fun. Even for Yankee.

It rained again yesterday. Off and on. Not while we were playing golf, however. It would not dare!

Yesterday made for two consecutive days of rain. We need it! Key West has had something less than three inches of rain since the first of the year. Yesterday’s Key West Citizen reported this is the worst dry spell since 1906/1907.

Afterr golf, I drove into town to buy Ally a birthday gift. A tiara to wear last night, some kid’s jewelry and a puzzle. Lisa prefers the grandkids not receive ostentatious gifts. Her call. She is the mother.

Good birthday dinner last night! Ally dictated the menu. Crab cake sandwiches, pizza, salad, watermelon and blue berries. The cake white with white frosting. Ally wanted white. Robert had had chocolate for his birthday last week.

Afterwards, I stopped over to Don’s Place for a drink. Don there. Had been there since golf finished. He was his own best customer. Kurt at Don’s, also.

One drink for me and then home to an early bed.

Bocce tonight.

A big match. We are playing Schoonfields.

Tonight’s play is important for two reasons. First, it is a money game. Schoonfields is one of the teams that we have a side bet with. Second, we need to win two matches tonight to lock in third place in the league standings. With only two weeks of play left, we just might end up in the top four which would mean we make the playoffs.  A big deal in itself. Our team has never made the playoffs.

Tomorrow, The Key West Lou Legal Hour! My internet show. 10 am. http://www.konkbroadcasting.com/. Watch, if you can.

A great show ready to go! Interesting topics! Like Donald and Sarah, Corsi and Trump, a too big to fail dissertation, Facebook lawsuits’ update, cities with the most billionaires, a couple celebrates their 75th wedding anniversary, an Arizona high school that charges students to graduate, why the homeless man in Key West recently dropped his pants near a school, Dutch government bans cannabis shops, Citizen United decision extended, Russia and gay rights, doctors’ and dentists’ new trick of the trade to be aware of and beware of, a comment on Nicholas Kristof’s recent NY Times column on raiding a brothel in India, OSHA rights for porn performers in California, feds targeting top health company execs for health care fraud, Egypt and virginity tests, fewer  than 50 % American households married, the Egyptian banker arrested for alleged attempted sex at the Hotel Pierre in NYC, and more.

A full plate. Interesting goodies. Join me.

Enjoy your day!

Happy birthday, Ally!

Six years old!

I already spoke with her at around six this morning. She is all excited. We are doing the family thing tonight after dinner.

The weather man in me is about to expound. Another great Key West day in the making. Fortunately…..it finally rained yesterday. Off and on. Big time. We needed it!

Today is the start of hurricane season. Now till Novemebr 30th.

When I first bought my home here 12 years ago, the locals spoke of hurricanes. Just talk. There had not been a significant storm since 1935. Then the sky fell in! Several years of hurricanes. Some big! Lots of damage.

The past two years have been hurricane free. Thank God! I hope this season is also.

My day yesterday was a quiet one. I needed the rest after the weekend. Wrote this blog, the Amazon Kindle legal blog, researched friday’s show further and slept most of the afternoon. Last night was dinner with my MTV neighbor Andrew. We did the Chart Room and  Hot Tin Roof.

Andrew has a home in Switzerland. I last saw him about a month ago when we lunched at Louie’s Backyard. Since then he had scooted over to Switzerland for a few days and got married. Her name is Jasmine. They met at St. Moritz. He is here. She still in Switzerland with their 11 month old son. Jasmine and son will be here in about two weeks.

Andrew and I are becoming friends. We get along well.

I was home in bed early. I was anxious to watch the Miami game. Hit the pillow at the start of the second half. That was it! Fell immediately to sleep. When I woke, they were doing the post game interviews. I was happy that Miami had won.

Golf this morning! Love it!

Tonight Ally’s birthday party! Love her and love that event, also.

Enjoy your day!
