The weather is absolutely fantastic!

Key West weather at its best!

Not normal this time of the year. January is Key West’s cold month. Maybe we had it last month when I was complaining so much.

This morning is like yesterday. A blue sky. Water silent. Like a mirror. No wind. Everything bright. The palm trees and mangroves have never been greener.

And to the north, the country is being buried again in snow! Hard to believe.

Yesterday the temperature pushed 80 degrees. I took advantage of it. Went to the beach. Fort Zachary Taylor. I have a golfer’s tan. My body otherwise white. Needed some color.

I bought the newspapers and sat by the water reading. All I could think was God is good!

I did not go in the water. Too cold for me. The tourists go swimming. The locals do not. The thin blood thing.

Last night was football! What else! Auburn and Oregon. I stayed home to watch. A terrific game. It will go down in the books.

i am happy for Auburn who won and sorry for Oregon who lost. It is a once in a lifetime event for these young men. And the winners will remember with pride the day the rest of their lives.

I had the good fortune to know two fellows who played with the national champion Pittsburgh team many years ago. They wore their rings with pride. No matter what, they had reached the mountain top. Neither was an economic success later in life. It did not matter. The game was everything!

Terri starred at Feinstein’s in New York City Sunday night. Great post show reports! She sang to a packed house and standing ovation! My girl broke a leg!

It was Mary Jo’s birthday last night. There was a party at La Te Da for her. I obviously did not go. Sorry, Mary Jo. No excuse is a good excuse. However, I was tired from the sun and did want to watch the foiotball game. Still love you, though!

Mary Jo has become a Key West icon. A legend in er own time. She has had cancer so long and outlived all medical projections as to her demise. She just keeps moving on. Continue the journey, Mary Jo!

There was an interesting article in yesterday’s New York Times. By David Segal. It was entitled “Is Law School a Losing Game?” The bottom line is that attorneys are having a difficult time in this economy. Both new and old lawyers.

A prominent Key West attorney recently told me that retaining a lawyer in this economy is a luxury. People still have a need for legal assistance. But cannot afford to pay. As a result, attorneys are earning less, some closing their offices and working from their homes and not scheduling anything that costs money. Such as a deposition.

The economy affects everyone!

Except the banks.

As I advised yesterday, my Amazon Kindle legal blog is up and running. Correctly! You can now subscribe. It is called Key West Lou Law.

Today’s Kindle article involves pedophelia. A disgusting subject. But one heavily in the news recently. Locally and nationally.

Would you believe that someone recently wrote a book on how to be a pedophile! Yes! He has been arrested by Florida authoritiies.

The case will be interesting. It raises a freedom of speech issue. The author’s attorney has already taken that position.

Jenna is due at 9. We have some Kindle things to complete at my end. Also Jenna is my producer for the radio show The Key West Lou Legal Hour. We have some things to go over for friday’s show.

Enjoy your day!

Six thirty yesterday morning the telephone rang.

It woke me.

It was my 5 year old granddaughter Ally.

The conversation went as follows.

“Poppa?”

“Yes.”

“What are you doing?”

“Sleeping.”

“Are you coming over today?”

“I don’t know.”

“Please come.”

“Ok.”

“I want you to teach me more golf.”

“Ok. Where’s your mother?”

“Sleeping.”

“Where’s your father?”

“Sleeping.”

“Where’s Robert?”

“Sleeping. I’m up alone.”

“Then who telephoned me?”

“Me. I learned your number and how to do it.”

In recent yrears I have dreamed of a young lady waking me in the morning. I did not think it would be my granddaughter!

Later in the day, I did go over to Lisa’s. Took Robert and Ally into the back yard. Taught them how to tee up a ball. They both took to it immediately. I must be the only one in the world that has trouble teeing up a ball.

Then I showed them which club was a driver. They have small real clubs. Made especially for kids.

I showed them how to line up the club and ball. Then took a swing. I hit the ball easy. Nevertheless it went flying over the next door house!

I am going to take the kid’s driver with me when I play golf Wednesday!

I watched the Syracuse/Seton Hall game from the Sports Page Bar Saturday. Some Syracuse fans showed up. I met George and Kathy. From Oneida. George owns several wire manufacturing plants. One is Camden Wire.

We have mutual friends. Al and Don Carbone. Kathy also knew my CPA for more than 35 years, Bill Hatfield. She said Bill was in high school ahead of her.

Nice people. They have a time share at the Galleon. Five or six weeks a year.

I never made the gym yesterday. I decided to celebrate my weight loss by skipping it. A bad sign!

Jenna came over last night. We had a lot of work to do with Amazon Kindle. Be advised…..the problem is solved! All of you that wanted to subscribe may now do so! Go for it! Key West Lou Law.

I cheated on my diet Xmas eve and day. Ate everything. Well, almost.

I love fruit cake. Only at Xmas, of course. I asked Lisa to bake one. She said she did not know how. Additionally, she did not want her children eating fruit cake.

I was in Publix just before Xmas. They were selling fruit cakes. I bought a small one. Put it in the refrigerator. I was too stuffed after eating at Lisa’s each day to try the fruitcake. It still sits in the refrigerator.

The day the diet is definitely over in my mind will be the day I report I had a piece of fruit cake.

I have a Facebook friend in Crete, Greece. Jim Brown. Jim tells us today that he was car hunting in Greece. His comment is as follows. I share it with you precisely as he wrote it. Nothing changed. “…u ever tried to by a diesel car in Greece!!! fek me u have more chance of finding a virgin in Essex.”

There is enough being said about the Congresswoman Giffords tragedy in Arizona. A dissertation by me is not warranted. However I do wish to make one short comment: Crazy begets crazy!

Enjoy your day!

Thirty years ago today I was in Portland, Maine.

The day was January 9, 1981. The event the wedding of my good friends, Bob and Helen Marks.

Bob and Helen were insurance company people I had worked with over the years. I was especially close to Bob. So close that he honored me by asking that I act as his best man.

Today Bob and Helen celebrate their thirtieth wedding anniversary. Congratulations! Thirty more!

I went to Maine for 24 hours. It was an in and out trip.

Cold! So cold! As Bob reported on Facebook yesterday, it was 20 degrees. You have not lived till you have been in Maine in 20 degree weather!

Compounding the problem was the nation’s first oil crisis. This was it! Lines for gas. Fuel oil at a premium also.

I went to the wedding with one of the worst colds I had ever had. Maine weather did not help. I visited a local shopping center to get some pills. Anything! The inside of the shoping center was colder than outside! Because of the fuel problem, the heat was down to just above freezing. Clerks working the stores were totally dressed. Boots, heavy coats, scarfs, hats and gloves. That’s how it was!

The wedding was memorable!

Helen wanted to be married in the same Lutheran Church that her parents had married in during World War II. She wore the same dress and hat that her mother had worn. My recollection was that it consisted of a maroon suit and hat. And she wanted to be married on the same date as her parents, January 9.

Helen did it all!

It was a lovely ceremony. In the evening. By candlelight. Just Bob and Helen and perhaps four others including me.

Afterwards, we went to dinner at some famous historical restaurant. A small place. Actually a small house. My recollection is that it had been there back at the time of the Revolution. The place was nothing but clapboard. No secondary building material. No insulation.

The wind was blowing a hundred milkes an hour. I was sitting with my back to the outside wall. It was coming through the clapboards. I did not think I was going to make it through dinner!

I went to Maine with a cold and left with pneumonia! Only kidding.

It was a wonderful time. I was with good people. Bob and Helen, love you both! Thank you for having me thirty years ago. Best wishes for many more years!

Bob ran 4 wedding pictures yesterday on Facebook. Take a look at them. www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2074791&id=1029475967&1=4298f5eb37. Helen is still beautiful 30 years later. Bob’s hair is now white. And I have no hair!

I am in pictures 2 and 4 on the left. A full head of hair and thin! Forty five at the time!

Rita Botha e mailed me yesterday commenting on friday’s radio show. Rita is a friend living in Calitzdorp, South Africa. She watches the show on the internet.

Rita and her family run a restaurant in the country side. A family operation.

Rita has two granddaughters. Aged 3.

A customer/gentleman came into the restaurant in a wheelchair. The girls starred. They asked Rita what was wrong with the man. She explained that he might have been in an accident, perhaps lost his legs.

The girls were curious. They went over to see if he had legs. One is named Gianelle. Rita reports Gianelle “…approached him and gently touched his arm…meaning: please feel better.”

The comfort of children.

I watched Syracuse basketball yesterday. Syracuse beat Seton Hall 61-56. I was worried! Seton Hall is not that good this year. Their star player was out with an injury. Syracuse is undefeated and ranked fourth in the nation.

A piece of cake!

It was not!

Syracuse was lucky to win. Hope they now have that bad game syndrome out of them.

Terri White! One of the loves of my life! Sings tonight at Feinstein’s at the Regency in New York City. Big! New York’s premier supper club. Break a leg, Terri!

I have been concerned about losing that last pound. To make the goal of 25 pounds lost. God is good! I woke this morning to discover I had lost 2 pounds. So it is 26!

The only problem is I am now considering going for 30! Initially my goal was 20. I got there and said why not 5 more.

We shall see.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Good morning everyone!

What a lovely day to be alive and living in Key West!

The sun is shining. An absolutely blue sky. A slight breeze. The water creeping along.

Yesterday’s radio show the Key West Lou Legal Hour was terrific! I am terrible! Giving credit to myself. But it was good! I enjoy doing it and I am glad you listen. I have already heard from Calitzdorp, South Afrrica, Milan, Italy and Crete, Greece with favorable comments for the show. Plus many of you from around the U.S.

Thank you.

I visited with Lisa after the radio show at her office in the Southernmost Complex. Love that girl!

Then walked over to the Coffee House. Sat and read the papers. Ran into some friends.

Carlos left Key West about six months ago. He is living with his Mom somewhere in north Florida. She is sickly and he is caring for her full time. A good guy. He is in Key West for the weekend. Gail stopped in also. It is part of her daily routine. First time I have seen her this year. We kissed and exchanged Happy New Year greetings. Gail is a tango enthusiast. Loves it! Spent the New Year’s eve in Miami tangoing.

The cupboard was bare again. I am always running out of food. Part of it may be my diet. My goal is 25 pounds. I am at 24! One to go! I buy little so I eat little. A mental thing.

I spent the afternoon researching and writing. Sounds like college English 101.

Love doing the Amazon Kindle blog also. Legal in nature. A kickoff from the radio show.

Many of you have communicated with me saying you are having difficulty purchasing it. I know. There is a problem. It is at the Kindle end. I spoke with them again yesterday and they assured me the problem would be rectified over the weekend. So…..wait till Monday and then go buy it!

Later in the afternoon, I went to the gym. By hook or crook, I am going to knock off that last pound! I have been on a high protein diet. No carbs. I am dying for carbs. Two things especially: a banana and some ice cream! I have visions of these sugar plums dancing in my head!

After the gym, I walked next door to Don’s Place. Had a couple of drinks. Water. Some nut out there who occasionally comments says I am a drunk. I do not even drink!

I am excited. At noon today, Syracuse plays Seton Hall in basketball. I will be at the Sports Page Bar watching the game. Hope Kristan is working. She was not there the last time I was in. I missed her.

Enjoy your day!

Yesterday started with a 9 am meeting with Jenna. We fine tuned the Amazon Kindle legal blog.

Many of you have contacted me advising you were not able to purchase the Kindle blog. It costs all of $.99 per month. The problem was not the money. The buy button when pressed said the blog was not yet available.

The problem is at the Kindle end. They are aware and have assured me it should be resolved by the weekend. So if you are interested in joining me on Kindle, try again in a few days.

The problem was not uniform. Some have been able to purchase the blog.

I am glad that I am not the only one who has internet problems. Even the mighty such as Amazon screw up!

I also decided to change the name of the blog. Better to do so early on.

It took me several weeks to decided on the Tidbit name. Turns out it was too long for a number of reasons. The name of the Kindle legal blog henceforth is Key West Lou Law.

I like it better.

Afterwards, I was off for a haircut. Lori is back. She was in Maine for the holiday visiting her sickly mother. Lori tells me she got to spend an extra two days with Mom. The snow! And it was cold, cold, cold! She said it was impossible for her to keep warm! The thin blood thing.

I hit the gym next. Got rid of my frustrations hitting the bag.

Today is radio show time! The Key West Lou Legal Hour. 10 am. KONK 1500 radio. On the internet world wide at www.konkam.com.

I am excited! It has been three weeeks since I have done a radio show. The holidays got in the way.

Today’s show is interesting and timely! Things like Forida DUI checkpoints involving mandatory blood withdrawal, airport security, the Catholic Church, the dead who are not dead, an IRS agent pleads guilty to tax fraud, the Navy Captain debacle, Haiti rapes, a parole problem in Massachusetts, New Jersey high school students given a free passs in biology, and more. A WOWIE show!

Hope you can join me!

It rained off and on yesterday. Rained a lot last night.

I recall when I first visited Key West more than 20 years ago. Someone told me it never rained in Key West. I believed her.

That very same day, I was driving a rented convertible. I parked it with the top down. One of those typical Key West monsoons came up. When I got back to the car afterwards, there was several inches of water in the car.

Hertz was good about it.

Remember Jules? My bocce partner. She now lives in New Orleans.

She wrote on Facebook yesterday that she and New Orleans were celebrating Joan of Arc’s birthday. 599th! A big parade! It’s carnival season, she says.

Hope you enjoyed, Jules. We need you back here. The bocce team has not been the same since you left!

Enjoy your day!

What a busy day yesterday!

I am too old to be so busy!

Started the day with a round of golf. Played with Don and Mark. Mark is here on vacation. A friend of Don’s. He is from Rochester.

Kurt showed up. He cannot play. He is having shoulder surgery on 2/3. Kurt became my driver and tutor. Kurt is one fantastic golfer!

I had a great front nine. Thanks to Kurt. The back nine was not the same. I tired. Big time. The back nine was a disaster!

I was the big winner at the end of the first nine. After the backside, I was the big loser for the whole round. It cost me $13.

The weather was perfect. A pleasure to play. Around 80. But with a cool breeze.

In spite of being tired, I am a discipline freak. I still went to the gym later in the afternoon. I lost another pound. Twenty three! Two to go!

Last night Kurt and I went out.

We started at Aqua. Bobby Nesbitt time. Kurt had never heard Bobby. He was impressed. A lot of friends milling about. Lynda, Bob, Tom, Mary Jo, Bill, June and more.

Then to La Trattoria for dinner. We ate at the bar. Erin bartending. No Becha. Her night off. I was disappointed.

I had a huge plate of mussels. Good for my diet! Delicious!

We finished dinner in time to catch Larry Smith’s variety show at the Bottle Cap. Larry and Jenna!

Their best show yet. The dialogue was crisp and moving. I enjoyed the song selections. Mary Deasy sang. Alec outdid himself.

Tino was videoing the show. Alec and Tino dive together. Tino plays golf. Alec does not.

Tino did not show up for golf yesterday. He went diving with Alec. That is why we were only a threesome.

When they got out on the ocean where ever they were going, they could not dive. The water was too murky. They could not see.

Tino’s punishment for skipping golf!

A good crowd for the show. Cheryl and Roger. Even Lee Ann. Except for bumping into Lee Ann once in the supermarket, I have not seen her in ages.

After the show, I dropped Kurt off at Don’s Place. I was shot! Headed straight home and to bed.

I have to hustle this morning. Jenna will be here at 9. She is helping me fine tune the Amazon Kindle legal blog.

Enjoy your day!

I planned on walking yesterday morning. The fog had excited me. Unfortunately by the time I was ready to walk, the fog had lifted. Nevertheless I still walked. Along the Atlantic by Smathers Beach.

Years ago when the children were young, we vacationed every summer at the Jersey shore. Wildwood Crest. Loved the Jersey shore! Nothing like it! Unique in its own right as Key West is.

The beaches were broad. Waves in the ocean. The big kind. You had to jump up or dive under each time one came by.

There was a lot of morning fog at the Jersey shore. Yesterday’s fog reminded me of it. I used to walk along the beach in the pea soup fog. There was something strange and exhilerating about it. Perhaps weird might be a better description. Whatever, I enjoyed it.

I spent the rest of the day writing and researching for friday’s radio show.

I was on my way into town last night. My intention was to stop at the Chart Room and then have dinner at La Te Da. As I approached the Yacht Club, I decided to stop in for a drink.

I never left.

Tuesday is pub night and Bobby Nesbitt at the Yacht Club. I ended up hanging at the bar and ordering small pickies and chatting with friends. Best of all, I was able to listen to Bobby Nesbitt!

I enjoy Bobby’s singing. Tonight he is at Aqua at cocktail time and tomorrow at the same time he is at the Gardens. Bobby Nesbitt fans can get their fill of him three evenings in a row.

The Key West Lou Legal Tidbit of the Day is going well on Amazon Kindle. Yesterday’s legal blog had to do with people declared dead who are not. They awake in a coffin or body bag later on. Generally just short of burial.

Such events are more common place than you would think. Two have occurred in the past six months. Obviously civil lawsuits follow. Somebody screwed up!

The blog also touches on embalming. Interesting. Not legally required in the United States, except under special circumstances. Generally not required world wide. Also, druggies inject embalming fluid. It contains marijuana. Gives a 3-6 day high.

You never know what you are going to learn here!

Golf this morning! I am anxious. I have not played in two weeks.

Enjoy your day!

Fog this morning!

Like London! Thick!

Visibility less than a mile.

Unusual in Key West. I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I have experienced fog in the keys in the past 10 years.

In any event, it is still going to be a nice day. Once the fog lifts. Temperature projected in the low 70s.

Speaking of cold, you will recall I complained much about the weather in December. Many of you thought I complained too much. It was brutally cold! Yesterday’s Key West Citizen had a front page article on December weather. It was the coldest December on record! Average temperature was 62.9 degrees. 9.2 degrees below normal.

My complaining justified!

A big day yesterday! A tiring one also. I babysat from 10-3. It was hard work! I was tired when Lisa relieved me.

When I arrived at Lisa’s, Robert and Ally were waiting for me on the porch. With their golf clubs. For some reeason, they thought I was going to take them to the golf course. Monday would have been a bad day for them. Everything half price at the golf course. The course is packed!

I had promised last week that the next time I took them, we would actually play two holes. They love to ride on the golf cart!

I felt bad! They felt bad!

I took them in the back yard instead. Threw down the hoola hoop. Had them get their pitching wedges. They knew which club it was. And some balls. They practiced their pitching.

Sometimnes they hit the ball. Sometimes not. Ally was having difficulty making contact. She was coming down about a foot behind the ball. However, when they did make contact the back yard was dangerous. Balls were flying in every direction.

They tired. I tired. We went inside. We played with huge building blocks. Built all kinds of things on the living room floor.

Then it was break time. I had to do my Amazon Kindle legal blog. They put in a DVD.

Lunch was at Matthesson’s on White Street. Robert and Ally selected the place. They had hot dogs and fries. I had a salad. They wanted ice cream. Why not? Each had marshmellow ice cream in a cup. The ice cream was metallic blue. Ally had worms on hers and Robert bears.

I had promised to take them to the radio station. KONK 1500. It is only a few doors down from the restaurant.

The broadcasting booth was empty at the time. I took them inside. Sat them both down on stools. Each had earphones. Each a mike. I sat behind my mike with earphones on. Then I interviewed them.

They had a ball! It was the highlight of the day for them!

Then to Walgreens for me to pick up a prescription. They wanted me to buy them each a toy. I said no. You still have toys from Christmas you have not played with. They understood. Lisa is raising them well.

When we returned home, we played hide go seek. Ho ho! Fun! Ally was the best! She found a hiding place that I could not discover. Robert had to finally show me where she was. She was thrilled to have fooled me! I was thrilled that she figured out such a good spot to hide!

Lisa finally came home. I was exhausted!

Being a good boy, I headed to the gym.

Initially I wanted to lose 20 pounds. When I reached my goal, I opted to go for another 5. I have now lost 22 pounds. I have been at that level for a week. The last 3 pounds are not budging! A pain!

Jenna was to stop by at 5. She is helping me with the Amazon Kindle set up. I may be able to write. But mechanically I am a dud! It is a generational thing.

Jenna got tied up and did not arrive till after 6. We worked hard for a couple of hours.

Many of you have written or called asking how to get into Kindle. When you find my legal blog on the internet, it says not available. The reason is the blog is not obtainable unless you are signed up with Amazon Kindle or some piece of machinery that makes it available. There is a charge also. $1.99 a month.

We spent the time fine tunig the legal blog.

I spent weeks selecting a title. Came up with the Key West Lou Legal Tidbit of the Day.

It does not work. Too long. I mention it on Twiiter and the title eats up half my 140 characters. It also is a mouthful. Too much.

So…..from this point forward the new name of the legal blog is Key West Lou Law. I like it better! Short and to the point! Fits!

I am changing the background. Presently too busy. Going to have larger font also. Make it easier to read. Friday is the day for the new showing. Till then I shall continue publishing under the original format.

Jenna left. I cooked a light dinner. And then to bed.

Yesterday’s Amazon Kindle legal blog was entitled: Bedroom Tales and Related Issues. A little sex never hurt. Sexual problems permeate the law. I covered some events in the news this past week and commented on them. Like fantasy sex and sex video tapes. I also wrote a shocking incest update.

The fog has lifted. Beautiful outside.

Enjoy your day!

A terrific morning!

The weather has taken a dramatic turn!

Warm, warm, warm!

As it should be!

Yesterday was a different Sunday for me. I skipped Don’s Place. Never made it to the Gardens.

I started the day with sad good byes. Donna and Terri left me to return to New York.

I was in the mood to do something different. I hopped in my car and drove north. To just over the Seven Mile Bridge.

The new bridge is constructed next to the old bridge. Half the old bridge is still open. To foot traffic. The old bridge is about 300 feet away from the new one and runs parallel to the new one.

I walked about 6 miles. Three over and three back.

The sensation and view are spectacular from the old bridge. You feel much more over the water than you are. Higher! Fishing boats all over the place. The air brisk and clean.

The best part is you can see traffic moving along the new bridge. The cars appear to be floating over the bridge. For real! And no sound. Everything silent. The sensation reminded me of the hot air ballon experience I recently had in Arizona.

Walking on the old bridge is like an Easter parade of old. Every one good morning and helloing each other.

A nice experience! Only the second time I have done it.

On the way home, I stopped at Boondocks for lunch. Bought a New York Times. Sat myself at the bar. Spent the next 2 hours enjoying leafing through the paper and picking on some food.

Last night around 7, I was hungry again. Headed over to Hogfisdh. A good Sunday night crowd.

I sat at the bar. Soon I was talking with some local fisherman who frequent the place. Hogfish sits in the middle of the shrimp fleet and other fishing vessels. My companions were genuine Key West fishermen!

I also chatted with the barmaid. A lovely lady from England.

Today will be exciting. I am babysitting. From 10 to 3. So I have to move my butt!

I am going to take Robert and Ally to the radio station. Let them sit with me in the broadcasting booth. Wear earphones. It should excite them!

Don’t forget to check out my legal blog on Amazon Kindle, if you can. The Key West Lou Legal Tidbit of the Day. After only one week, I think I am going to try to change the name to Key West Lou Law. The Tidbit one is too long.

Yesterday I wrote on pardons: Pardons…..From theWhiskey Rebellion to Billy the Kid.

Enjoy your day!

A lovely Key West Sunday in the making!

An absolutely blue sky. Not one cloud. Temerature already in the mid 70s. Water a deep blue. A slight breeze.

What could be better!

I am sitting outside at the tiki bar by the water as I write.

Today is a sad one. My house guests Donna and Terri are leaving. They have only been here six weeks! They came and forgot to go!

I am only kidding. I knew their visit was to be six weeks.

The girls have to be back in New York. Terri is starring in solo performances 3 out of 4 Saturday evenings this month at Feinstein’s at the Regency. A big deal engagement! New York’s premier supper club.

Donna and Terri will return sometime later in the month for a brief stay. Terri is performing one evening with the Key West Pops.

I shall miss them! They have been easy. Good guests. More like family. No problem. Kept me entertained a bit. Also made my life a bit easier. I now will have to wash the dishes again, wash clothes, arrange to have my gardens trimmed, clean up, etc.

Terri’s final show Live From Broadway was last night at La Te Da’s Crystal Room. I was supposed to attend. Did not. I have already seen it 3 times and heard it praticed on my deck a hundred times. I was tired later in the evening and went home instead.

The day is sad for another reason. Carolann from Michigan was to have arrived yesterday. This young lady has been counting the days till her return to Key West.

She is still in Atlanta!

She had to change planes in Atlanta. She reports two planes were struck by lightning there yesterday. So Carolann never made it to Key West.

Hopefully, she will arrive this morning.

We will be waiting for you at Don’s Place this afternoon, Carolann!

Big afternoon yesterday! Syracuse basketball!

Syracuse beat Notre Dame 70-58. A decisive victory!

The game was nip and tuck till the middle of the second half. Then Syracuse blew Notre Dame out with a big run.

I know it is early in the Big East season. But I am not afraid to say this is a good basketball team again this year. Syracuse’s defense is more outstanding than usual. And Syracuse has a bench. Finally! Boeheim normally plays with seven guys. This year he has ten. Wow!

He is substituting freedly and wisely. By the end of the game, Syracuse was juiced up and on their toes. Notre Dame was flat footed.

I watched the game at the Sports Page Bar. I could not believe all the people. College bowl games! All the big TVs were in use for the bowl games.

I panicked. Found Patrick the owner. What about the Syracuse game? At that point I was the only one interested in watching it. He took me to the back of the bar and pointed to a small screened set in the corner. That was all he could provide. No problem from my end. At least I would get to see the game.

Don and Chris from Syracuse showed up. By prearrangement. We watched the game together.

I like Don and Chris. Good people! They visit Key West several times a year.

Prior to the game, I made a quick stop at the Chart Room. Wished Michael a Happy New Year.

I was supposed to babysit after the game. Lisa and Corey were going to a party.

As I walked through the door, Lisa announced my services were no longer required. Robert had upchucked twice and she was not going out.

I hung with the family for a couple of hours. Robert improved as the evening progressed. Ally will probably be sick today. That is how it goes.

I had intended to shower and change clothes at Lisa’s in order to attend Terri’s show. For whatever reason, I was tired. So instead I went home.

Someone gave me a box of Omaha steaks for Christmas. I cooked a strip steak for myself last night. Wow! Was it good!

The game plan for today is Don’s Place in the afternoon and the Gardens tonight. Hope I make it to the Gardens!

Lisa just telephoned. Robert is ok. Ally well. They are going to the beach.

That is life in Key West!

Enjoy your Sunday!
