A different morning.

I can hear the water. Wind blowing. Palm tree branches crackling. No moon. No stars.

Rain?

I recall one of my first visits to Key West 25 years ago. A sales lady in some store told me it never rained in Key West. I left the converftible top down later when I parked the car. The rain that came was like a monsoon. When I got back to the car, there was about three inches of water on the floor. Avis was nice about it.

Visited the hospital yesterday morning. Kept Lisa company. She had a test.

Afterward, I stopped at Publix to pick up a few things. I think subconsciously I never buy enough so I have to return. I love Publix!

There is a sadness to it, also. Prices! I took particular note yesterday of the cost of things. Everything seems to to $3, $5 or $10.  The bill runs up rapidly at the cash register no matter how little is purchased.

The cost of food is killer!

Then the price of gasoline. It has dropped here in Key West the past three weeks. About $.45 a gallon. Still too high however at $3.70.

How are families doing it?

Tim Reynolds spent some time with me in the afternoon. He is my new computer guru. He should be yours. He has been taking care of my two computers. Excellent knowledgable service. Reasonably priced. His telephone number is 305-394-7030.

The interesting thing about Tim is that he was one of Key West’s outstanding chefs till seven years ago. He burned out. He had been playing around with computers. Went into repair work big time.

He’s good.

Bocce last night.

I had not played in two weeks. It was exciting to be back. We won all three games. 16-5, 16-5 and 16-7. A big night! And it was a money match besides!

At the start of the evening, we were tied for third place in the league standings. I believe that now we may be alone in second.

There was a waterspout just before we started playing. There are always waterspouts in Key West. Everyone stands and gawks at them. Even me. I have always wondered what would happen if a water spout came over me. Would I still be able to gawk afterwards?

Key West residents are good people. The best! Truly one human family.

An example was last night at bocce. I have played neither bocce nor golf for two weeks. I have been feeling under the weather. I was overwhelmed by the number of people and their concern who came over to ask me how I felt, glad I was back, etc.

Sincere and genuine all.

It is differengt here. I do not remember it being this way in my other place and other life.
